The Biltmore Mansion has scheduled its reopening for November 2. Some parts of downtown Asheville have started to reopen for business.

We are still planning a trip to Asheville in mid-December.

You should be good.

Biltmore Village is a wreck though. You won't be spending any time there except to go in and out of the Biltmore. It is a sad sight.

We've got a BnB reserved on the South Slope near the Orange Peel. My daughter, a real estate broker, in Asheville tells me most of the town will be in good shape in December, excepting, of course, Biltmore Village and the Arts District.

Just like with Maui, after the initial disaster has passed we should be encouraging people to spend their money there, not further penalize the people living there.

Good for you.

It’s been a couple of years since I have been, did the Village flood from the valley or water coming off the hill/ mountain? I can’t remember the location of the Village in regards to the elevations. The rest of the Biltmore lodging and what not is higher up right?

From the river. Swannanoa River took everything around it.

If you know about the entrance to Biltmore Estate, you have to go through that arch. The water got up to just about the top of the archway.

I take it the Bohemian Hotel was destroyed?

How did the Grove Park Inn make out?

The Grove Park is on top of a small mountain overlooking Asheville. It’s fine. Still closed though.
