I do not believe that is correct. My understanding is there are no fast passes at all currently. Just rider swap, disabled passes and very few “sorry for the inconvenience “ passes.

If you want to have a FastPass right now you have to stay at a Disney owned property. I’ve heard conflicting info on how fast passes are being distributed (number and the priority), but if you aren’t staying at one of their properties, forget it.
No FastPass for anyone since they reopened. No announced plans for their return either.

My back starts hurting like hell around that 90 minute mark.

I’ve already booked for next year, the week after Thanksgiving. If the mask mandate is still in place, I’d rather deal with it in the fall/winter then the insufferable Florida humidity. Masks or no masks, it’s all what you make it out to be.

We are going for new years. We are driving in, we have 4 kiddos. I have talked to a few other that have been they are using some kind of virtual app to hold your place in line. So in theory you don't wait in line, but you still wait if that makes sense. They people that I know that have been, said this was one of the best experiences they have had out of a Disney trip. Not having the shows and things limited was a bummer, but they said riding the rides doesn't get much better right now. Unless you have a fast pass. Universal is selling fast passes through the end of December, but starting Jan 1st 2021 you can only get a fast pass with a on-site hotel reservation package. Currently Disney is not doing fast passes. But these things change frequently. Path occupancy just recently increased to 35%

Well I sure as hell saw people using the FastPass when I was there.
Also over at Universal, but they just have the one you pay for, which right now is rather pointless.

You probably saw people returning for their assigned time who have a disability pass. They don’t get to skip the lines, they wait as long as everyone but they don’t have to stand in the line. They can go sit down somewhere, eat, etc.

They just announced that park hopping will be back starting January 1st. You will still have to make a park reservation for the first park you visit that day and can then park hop after 2:00 pm.

Only virtual que is for Rise of the resistance. All others are regular waits.

Nothing to add but I’m reading this thread in line at baseline Taphouse with a few LSU fans we just met, having fun with no masks at our table, drinking beer and just wanted to say hi

There are numerous YouTube channels featuring WDW videos, some actually live-stream their visits. Gives you an idea of what is going on in the parks. Weekends are more crowded than mid week. We went first part of November and it was pretty good, with reduced hours and no park hopping. All parks were enjoyed. Hollywood Studios was about as crowded as before the China virus with fairly long lines for everything.

I wanted to take my kids this year - but I wanted my youngest to have the character experiences
When I looked up stuff - it says they don’t have the characters right now - so we went to the beach instead
Not sure if the character stuff is a factor for you

We went in October and it was too crowded Masks are strictly enforced at all times, and wait times were routinely 45-90 minutes
I went the week of Halloween and the wait times were no where near that.

If you went after COVID closure, no you didn't. They aren't using fast passes. Fast pass lines are open, but not for fast passes. You are wrong.

The fastpass entrances are being used for child swap and for guests needing assistance (wheelchairs, inability to stand for periods of time, etc) and some of the space normally used for the actual fastpass line is often being used as the normal standby line to help distancing. Fulshear is correct, there are no FP right now.

Damn, we just missed you. We were there around 2 or so yesterday afternoon. Lots of LSU people around.
I will say one thing, not sure who they have working but these employees are not the same as before COVID. Almost everyone is local because the college program is shut down and everyone not from here was sent home. The difference in their attitudes and customer service is night and day. That extends to the resorts and restaurants as well.
Magic Kingdom was miserable. Lines way too long. There are so many attractions in that park and you have to basically decide which ones you will do because you will be in line for an hour for each, at least. They probably decrease towards the end of the night but we checked out by then.
Trying Animal Kingdom today. Good part is that I am happy chilling at Nomad Lounge for hours just drinking.

Just went a few weeks ago:
If you have a young/small family, Animal Kingdom is not worth it. No live shows, and most of the restaurants are closed.
The mask issue was annoying, but not that bad. Buy some disposable makeup remover wipes. Whenever you take a quick break, wipe your face down and the inside of your mask. If you can handle the perfume smell, the scented wipes were great.
The employees are facemask Nazi's and it can be entertaining to watch. While talking to you, they will stop mid sentence to correct someone. I never saw them actually remove anyone even though they will threaten.
No fast passes, but download the apps if you are going to eat in the park. You have to order/pay through the app, but you can do it from anywhere in the park. You pick a "reservation" time, and once that time hits make sure you are in the area to "check-in". You don't have to wait there, they will text you when the food is ready.
Lines were a little longer than expected, but every time we waited in line we were off the ride before the stated time (app says 45 minute wait, we were often done around 42-44 minutes). We did not stand in any line over 75 minutes, only 60 minute line was Avatar bc we already did everything our little one could ride. And because of the social distancing, it seamed like the lines were moving faster because you didn't have long waits before you moved up to the next wait line.
They opened the parks a few minutes earlier than the stated time. Busses are limited capacity, plan accordingly.

Just got back from WDW yesterday. The key is getting there early & riding the more popular rides early before the lines back up. All of the parks basically open an hour before the posted time so you can ride 3-4 rides of your choice with little to no wait.
All the parks got busy mid-day and then as the afternoon progressed the waits would drop again. Nothing was as long as the posted waits on the app. Epcot was very crowded Sunday since it was the last day of Food & Wine. DHS was just as bad since it has the newest attractions.
The mask wearing took a bit to get used to. Even with paper masks it got to be a PITA. I’m used to wearing one for an hour or two, and wearing one for 10 hrs a day outside was not something I care to do again.
