I have been wanting to go for awhile but have not been.
Had a friend that lived there. Lucerne and Bern/Lake Geneva are supposed to be beautiful and great for tourists. And the Lauterbrunnen Valley is supposedly a must.
I would focus on those 3 areas.

I've been twice. Favorite spot was Lugano. Beautiful town in the mountains on a lake. In the Italian part of Switzerland. Looks like Italy but with Swiss cleanliness and efficiencies.

you speak some Spanish and have never been to Mexico or Costa Rica or something. You can do those kinds of trips in a week or less.
Very easy to travel those places without speaking Spanish. Costa Rica is a really great trip.
As someone living in Houston, Playa del Carmen feels less foreign than Hawaii.

Yeah, places like Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Los Cabos, etc. don't really count as foreign. I've been those places, and they're great for what they are, but you aren't going to experience real Mexican culture.
But go somewhere real in Mexico that has more Mexicans than Americans. I've only been to Mexico City, Puebla, Queretaro, and Monterrey, but there are a number of other places that I still want to visit, especially Oaxaca.
And you don't need to speak Spanish to visit those places. In particular, Mexico City has recently become a much better destination for those who only speak English. But those are places where some knowledge of Spanish doesn't hurt.

Interlaken and Lucerne are tough to beat in Switzerland.

Greece & the Greek isles was my first international trip and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Not a package deal or guided trip, just doing our own thing. Only spending the first night and last night in Zurich. The rest of the trip is 3 days in Lucern and 3 days in Interlaken/Laterbrunen with 2 day trips out of each and 1 day touring the city.

London is by far the easiest first time international trip.
