I’m not livid about it, but I do think hotels and airlines should distinguish between those folks who earn their status via flights/stays and those who purchase it by carrying a certain credit card.

Damn, yeah, y’all are the most impacted with lack of international travel to get those massive amount of miles needed
True, it usually takes 6 international trips per year. But, I haven’t done one since Feb 2020.
Thing is though, it seems that they are extending the same status for all…which seems good.

With business travel in the toilet, I don't think it will materially affect anyone for the year or two they do it, so that's why it seemed silly but perhaps I'm off base.

Agree, airports are packed right now with non-normal flyers due to how cheap fares were months ago. Those same people are not going to get to elite statuses and won’t be traveling once “normalization” comes, whenever that is.
The airlines need to do everything they can to keep their best customers on the hook when the bottom falls out from these whim flyers.

I have the Delta Platinum card, about to have 3 companion certificates to use. But my wife has no interest in flying, but hopefully by early 2022 things will be better.
I have my doubts though.

Those measures include giving those booked in Basic Economy the ability to make changes to their flights for travel occurring through Dec. 31, 2021, to help reduce calls to Reservations. Later this week, those customers will be able to manage their trips on delta.com and via the Fly Delta app.
This is the most important part. Finally

Say it louder for the people in the back.
They make an already annoying experience that much worse. Yes I’m salty.

It’s annoying as F, especially on SW. The amount of pre-boards is out of control. I had 15 on my flight yesterday. That, along with through passengers had the first window/aisle available with me boarding A-16 on row 8.

Request a wheelchair and you can preboard too!

Southwest just rolled theirs... Got this email.

Simply fly two qualifying round trip flights (or four qualifying one-way flights) between August 19 and November 19, 2021 to keep your A-List Preferred benefits through December 31, 2022. This offer applies to all flights taken August 19 - November 19, regardless of when they were booked, including award travel! No registration required.

Same, hoping they do something similar with CP too. Fine with it being activity based like the A-list one but not much time left in the year if they haven't announced it already.

I'd imagine they will offer something. I'd bet its an extension of 6 months into 2022 with the full year being granted after certain activity met.
