I’m tired of paying 3k to visit the gulf coast for a week. Looking for recs on places to visit with young kids within 8-10 hours max. Im tossing around hot springs and Branson… any other suggestions welcome. Thanks

Branson sucks arse. Look to the mountains. SW Colorado if you are in LA. Taos NM, too.

Colorado is easy and cheap.

I agree with everyone who says fly to Colorado. Tahoe would be a good choice too. The flights are really affordable especially if you set an alert to book them the day southwest releases.
IMO, summer mountain or lake trips are much better than the beach.
The beach is best in October.

If that's your budget and within 8-10 hours you are going to be very limited. I would highly recommend trying something lesser known, like a lake or area that is not super touristy.
Tons of great lakes in the south, nothing at all wrong with renting a cabin next to one especially if you can find a beach or swimming hole with nice water.

Within driving distance and affordable - Blue Ridge, GA area. Some nice cabins to be found at a pretty good price. Lots on the water with some good fishing. Plenty hiking and things to do for everyone.

The "other" Louisiana vacation - Gatlinburg.
