Anywhere in the US is acceptable. Looking for a 3-4 day hiking trip and would love to hear some ideas. For what it’s worth I’ve been to Sedona, Zion, Bryce Canyon years ago and was great

Appalachain Trail
There's probably some interesting stuff in West Texas or close to Taos, NM

Pinhoti trail in Alabama. It goes into Georgia but the best part is the southern 100 miles. Through the Cheaha area. Great winter hike.

Other than that anything southwest may be cold but nice in December. Just depends on how much cold and snow you want to fight.

Best time of year to head to Big Bend.

Certainly not as exciting as most of the places listed, but the Eagle Rock Loop in Arkansas is a good weekend trip.

Kalalau Trail on Kauai. But it's probably too late to get a permit to hike the full trail. The normal thing is to do what I did: hike all the way to Kalalau Beach the first day, spend a day at the beach and exploring the valley, and hike out the third day.

It's an incredible hike.

We will consider Big Bend for sure. Also thinking about going back to Sedona and Zion. Anybody been there in winter and have any opinions?

Eagle Rock, Big Bend

ETA I did Eagle Rock in early Dec 2017. It got down to mid 20s at night. It may not get there this year but it gives you an idea of how cold it can get in the south.

Just be sure and bring the gear

Zion has some hikes that need permits right? I don't know about Sedona, but I'm pretty sure Zion can get pretty cold.

How far out are you planning this? Can you take a trip last minute?

If you want to start booking things now and you are talking late december around the Holidays I don't think I'd do zion as your chance of bad weather would be reasonable?
