Looking at Belgium, Ireland, France, Austria, Portugal, and Spain plus Hawaii however the uncertainty of what will be happening by this summer is insane.
I have 1k in vouchers plus two free companion passes that need to be used before January and this summer I had hoped more would be open.

Right now it seems a lot of Europe is shutting down again and even if partly open it seems what is the point when most of what I want to do is closed.

I would like to book fairly early and will try again around Easter to see if more is available.

This summer? Stick with Hawaii.

We are planning for Europe in the spring of next year.

Save yourself the heartache and don't plan on going to Europe this year

Probably true but I've been planning this for 2 years to spend 3 months in Europe and see as much as possible. So this is all frustrating last year was going to be a quick week long trip and it was canceled. I have no interest in most domestic travel as I've been to the places I really want to see in the continental US

Contact the airline and see if they will extend it due to covid.

That's my next option if I am unable to find anything around Easter. Being stuck at home today I'm searching and just getting annoyed

It's much easier once you accept this truth. Sucks, but the way it is.

Unless something drastically changes in the next 3 months in Europe, it is off the table for visiting this year (for us). Even if it opened up a little... I wouldn't want to deal with all the COVID restrictions on a trip like that. Can you imagine trying to navigate reservations, tours, rentals and be so limited?

I'm like you and I like to plan out big trips 6+ months in advance, and it's incredibly frustrating to do nothing. I had a 2 month Southeast Asia trip mapped out for Spring 2020. I'm spending my time now making spreadsheets and researching places to visit, so we can launch in 2022.

I'm still all go for Croatia in June. Counting on them to need tourists and even though they are "closed" to tourism now, you can still get in. I think they will open up restaurants and all that for tourist season.

I'm in a position though that due to life situation 2022 is unlikely for me to do anything so I'm just going for it

I'm fully prepared to be disappointed.

I almost commented and said that I heard Croatia was accepting visitors! It is not a bad place to be in summer on that coast... hit up some wineries. If my travel budget weren't planned out for 2021 that is maybe the one European place I would consider. I'll send some good vibes your way.

Why not plan two trips at once, one that needs reservations and one that doesn't? Like drive to New England if Europe is shut down? Lot of hotels have free cancellation right now domestically.

Aren't you a teacher OP? I feel creepy knowing that, in other words you have the summer off anyway and don't need to take PTO?

Personally yes its going to be a year dealing with Covid, but if you can find a destination you can get to and also have some flexibility I think it could be a great time to travel. There won't be many travelers and you'll have places to yourself.

I essentially have found a decent deal on Hawaii... So that is where I will go this summer, looking at adding a couple of extra days and hit Washington state or North California as well

I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but Hawaii is not exactly a great place to visit these days either as far as Covid shutdowns. Do I think it'll be open this summer due to relying on tourism? Yes. But I'm just saying that Hawaii is by no means all about welcoming people right now.

I lost a trip to Greece and then to Argentina and next I get to lose a trip to the big island. I am a very elite almost- traveler. Maybe I should just drive to Florida like a proper baw.

From what I've been reading they are opening up, show a negative test 3 days before leaving and another upon arrival and it seems you will be fine. You will not quarantine for the 14 days. Now you cannot travel within the islands which will suck a little but they are still offering yours, snorkeling, etc...
