Traveling with about 12 family members. Some of the usual spots have gotten frickin ridiculous. Have gone to fort morgan before and it’s alright

I've always found Fort Morgan to be affordable and not overrun. Limited restaurant options but otherwise its nice.

Gulf Shores is perfect for you

Only thing cheaper than that is Biloxi.
Yeah it’s been bad for quite a while now with pricing

Don’t mention Fort Morgan - it is not worth the drive!!!!
And we don’t need more people there

We go in mid August. Kids are back in school and rates drop. Also crowds are down a lot. September is even better.

Orange Beach/Perdido. VRBO for a better price.

If you need accommodations for 12 you are gonna pay baw.
We go to Dauphin Island every year for a week. Personally I love it, but a lot of people think it's boring. No chain stores except for Chevron and 7-11 or whatever the other gas station is which has a Subway or a Blimpie maybe. You gotta either pack in all your groceries or there is a delivery service that will pick up your Walmart order in Mobile and put it away for you. Thing about Dauphin Island if you stay "West End" you might get flooded out if it rains.
Might say similar for St. Joe Beach. We went there the week after Thanksgiving and most days there wasn't another person within 500 yards of us on the beach. But again pretty boring if you need to entertain a lot of people.
Our go-to for years for inexpensive was Perdido Key, but we only needed a small 1 bedroom.

The coast of a gulf coast beach rentals during the summer now is insane but they keep renting and as long as they do I don't see any relief in sight.
We used to take at least one beach vacation a year, anywhere from Ft Morgan to Panama City and now maybe it's a one long weekend a summer and maybe a week trip every three years or so.
Never been a fan of beach houses for big groups and have always preferred multiple two or three bedroom units but Navarre has always been a honey hole if we wanted something a bit east than Ft Morgan / Gulf Shores without spending Destin type money.

Rosemary Beach is nice and very reasonably priced for what it is.

Shell Beach
Plenty of room in Fort Proctor for your party of 12:
Try Apalachicola, FL if not?

I'd check pensacola beach. As said, get a couple of smaller properties at lesser known condo buildings next to each other.
St George Island, Cape San Blas, and Indian Pass are great but they are expensive outside of last minute deals these days. There's also nothing there but beach and the bugs can be bad on occasion.

We're planning a spring golf trip to that area and even our normal places are higher than that.
