A guy named Schizzie sounds exactly like the kind of person that would go to a tryout for the sole reason of getting cut and showing it to the world.

He showed up to a D1 tryout throwing 68 mph? He deserved bluntness

This kid's parents paid for him to be on a select team from age 7-18, no reality kicks in. Suck it up Braxton

I support this honest coach.

Good job coach. Now the guy with zero talent and no knowledge can start to become a TikTok expert and sell his vast knowledge to unsuspecting parents.

If you're trying to play college baseball with a 70mph fastball - I mean, seems like this was not a serious endeavor.

That is good speed......for a 12 yr old.

Have you ever watched one of those talent search shows like American Idol and wondered why people with no talent keep showing up to audition? It is because no one around them has cared for them enough to tell them the truth. This coach told him the truth, and now he can move on from a hopeless dream.

I'm shocked someone who can't top 70mph off the mound thought they had a chance at playing college baseball in the first place.... Average HS Fastball is 72mph. If a kid can't throw harder than the average high schooler, then he just made a fool out of himself going out for a D1 team in the first place.

This sounds like an open tryout for a D1 school. Not like he's been on the roster for 3 years and his senior year is cut.

I didn't find that email "brutal". If you can't throw over 70 mph at 18+ you probably weren't a travel ball player. Also this guy that tried out doesn't come across as serious - tied out for fun.

Except for the whole "Thank you for reaching out." The kid didn't just go "Yeah thats about what I thought but at least I tried." He asked for clarification as to why he didn't make the cut.

This sounds like some dude lost his fantasy football league and his punishment was to go try out for his college baseball team.

This looks like one of those prank type things where he goes out there to create comedic content

If the youngster had the desire to play ball--or to do any other thing for that matter--he/she would take it on the chin and punch back--not with fists, but with developing the skills necessary to be the best he/she can. There was a young man who aspired to play guitar and was ridiculed and laughed at because he just wasn't good at it. So he practiced and practiced until he got better, and now he is producing a Crossroads event every year or so. Eric Clapton is his name, and he has been one of the most influential guitarists of the day...So--if you know someone who could have received a letter like that--turn it around as a challenge.

This is fine with me. However, that's how I was brought up - just shoot it straight. If I had to pick something to critique about his approach, I would say be more empathetic? Maybe??? Either way, I don't object with how this was handled.

Was this some type of joke? Only a douche would ask coach why didn't make the team if he knew his fastball was that slow.
