Yea I really don’t want Brad White.

Is that HONESTLY the best LSU can do? Like seriously? Throwing around over $2million for a coordinator position? A middle of the road dude from a basketball school?

I don’t want to keep Daronte really, but if Brad White is the alternative I would just keep what we got.

He never even had a winning record. Have you looked up how mediocre Saban was apart from one season at Michigan St.?

The last time we gambled on someone based on speculation about his mediocre accomplishments, with inferior talent, was Nick Sabon.

Nick wasn't as bad as Gerry, but it was a gamble. He had one good year at Michigan St.

6-5-1
6-6
7-5
6-6
9-2

I’m too lazy to look up schedules, any common opponents to compare besides LSU?

Neither did very well against the pirate.

South Carolina scored a few more points against the Aggies, but the Aggie offense did much better to help out the D. Kentucky allowed Missouri to score about twice as much though. Did we mention inferior talent pool?

He was 9-2 at Toledo though. And no, they were not a good program when he took them over. They were a 6-5 team. So he sort of showed it at two schools.

This guy has been a DC for 3 seasons running Stoops defense.

Here’s a crazy idea. Maybe working for a really good coach on a given side of the ball teaches you things. Maybe guys like Kirby Smart and Mel Tucker benefited from the defensive HCs they worked for.

That’s a sample size of one season. I guess we should have hired Frank Wilson as HC when he had one good year at UTSA.

Also, the three years before Saban went to E Lansing were about the same as after he started. 5-6, 6-6, 5-6.

Their previous coach went 9-2 in 2002. He won with Sabon's future players.

I am saying in conjunction with Michigan St.

I am not even trying to make a point. Just noting Saban did have success at 2 different places prior to LSU. If you don't feel a quick turn around at one school and then another longer turnaround at another school is all that impressive then that is fine. I still think it is something worth noting along with Michigan St. I am not sure if that is quite comparable to Frank Wilson.

That is fair.

If Miles or Orgeron was doing the hiring I might be more concerned about these kind of stats. But Kelly has a proven record of success, is obviously much more intelligent than our prior two high school level head coaches and is capable of accurately judging the knowledge, skills and abilities of the candidates he is considering. In other words, I actually trust his judgment, which is a refreshing change. I intend to enjoy having a real football coach by not stressing out over every decision he makes.

In the last 3 recruiting classes A@M finished 8,6,4 and Kentucky's classes finished 34,25,34 so its a little easy for elko to be really good. If you want to run down white for recruiting capabilities then ok but you also need to admit its probably easier to recruit at A@M in football

DiNardo’s numbers at Vandy weren’t this good, not even in a relative sense. A much closer and better parallel was Chavis’ at UT as they faltered. That DID work out well for us for several years.

This,
Kelly's last 3 DC's are Head Coaches, maybe trust him a little.

I trust him a little. But this guy doesn’t seem like the $2 mil per year hire we were going after. Offer him $1.5 and I’m happy.
