If we need a DC I hear that Wade Phillips may need a paycheck.
I doubt Wade to come to college as a DC, but I wouldn't mind him at all. He's another of those "Sucks as a HC, great coordinator" guys.

So who is this strong DC you want?? See UGA and Gators having an easy time filling their DC position.
Don't see where folks are knocking down the doors at those schools. They didn't knock down the doors last year before Chief was hired, so who is better? Don't believe any NFL coordinator comes to LSU. So who is better?
Don't use the Tyrone Nix thing. He didn't leave OM last year so why would he leave now?
Face it. We have a very good DC and things will only get better as the players acclimate to his system.

Dude, it is sarcasm. Of course he would not show up here. Believe it or not, not every post on here is 100% serious.

Might want to study a little more football, then return to the board.

Fixed it for you.

He was better than the Co-Coordinators last year, but I wouldn't be upset if he left. Our ability to get off the field on third down ranked at the bottom of the SEC. I don't think that helped our defense or our offense.

I agree we need his type of DL personnel before we can get a look at what his D can do. For so long we've recruited the 260-270 pound monster DEs that were more run stuffers than anything else. prior to Chavis coming to LSU the only two speed rush ends I can think of that we've gotten in the last 7+ years were Pittman and Alem. With every other end it seemed like we were trying to find the next Hill and Spears. We seem to be putting more of an emphasis on bringing in both run stuffing ends (Brockers) and speed rushers (Montgomery, Maclin) now.
Chavis likes to play zone on 3rd and long and let his front four apply the pressure. The problem was they didn't apply any. If we can get a guy in that can really get after the QB then I think you'll see us get off the field more quickly.

I dont think Chavis is going anywhere though. From my sources, Chavis and Miles had some big differences the first 2 games of the year. In particular the first game where Miles overruled several calls. Miles has pretty much gave the Chief complete control of the defense from that point forward.
After last years 2 headed monster of players blaming coaches, coaches blaming players it was not a good working or learning environment. The players respect Chavis and Miles will try to keep him at all costs.
I'm not very happy with 3rd down defense as we rank 11th in the SEC, lack of pressure on the QB, playing 10 yards off WR and letting the QB pick us apart, etc.....but want to give Chavis another year.

I don't know if it would matter when the defensive backs are playing 10 yards off the line of scrimmage on a third and three. You don't even need a three step drop to get the first down.
If our CB's were not that good, I'd understand, but that's not the case.
