There's no arguing with you, I think you're too caught up in message board stuff.

Clearly Kiffin has no intention of honoring his current contract.

If Kiffin will do this to Ole Miss during a playoff run, he’ll do it to LSU. Do you really want to put the LSU program through something like this? I remember Saban doing this while at LSU and it wasn’t fun. Then he finally left us in the lurch on Christmas day.

Maybe he’s doing this because Ole Miss is telling him to frick off.

Ole Miss is in the right here. You can’t let this drag on because it could set them back big time if you have to wait into December and have to start the search after several good options are already hired away.

Not to mention a distracted Lane in the playoffs has precedent and it’s not very good.

After I saw what he did to the Tennessee program, nothing surprises me about him
He inherited a 5-7 team and was years from having Tennessee relevant. Then he got a superior job offer by the school he was most historically connected to, and correctly took it

The intensity of Tennessee fans’ mental breakdowns caused a lot of people to misremember what happened. There was no betrayal. He simply got a promotion and did the thing anyone with a brain would do

I just don’t see what OM benefits by being “in on it”

I agree and put that as silly…

But, Kiffin just pushed things to its peak. OM may say “no more games and you are not going to embarrass us further. Deadline is now____”

LSU and UF may be reaching the same stage.

Lane may have thought this would pressure other schools. It might just backfire.

Being #5 in the country and a playoff lock? I’d be ecstatic

Doubt there would be another program he’d consider jumping to, but even if so - if he gets us back to that level, the correct answer is to still fricking take him. He would leave something stable behind for the next guy

The longer it goes on, the better it is for Ole Miss.

But the reality is, Kiffin doesn’t care. I don’t think he actually has emotions about this. He knows he’ll be fine regardless.

If Ole Miss is ok pulling their extension offer and letting him walk, how much leverage do they really have over Ole Miss?

So if Lane signs nothing ole miss is going to fire him? Sure. The deadline is BS.

Hell, sounds like it’s what Ole Miss asked for. Good for Lane.

Winning is all that matters.

This isn’t true. OM has a huge institution to run. Their highest profile employee is going out of his way to publicly humiliate the university he is supposed to be working to represent.

Some of yall are drastically overrating how irreplaceable he is. There is no way I make him the highest paid coach in America after this stunt. It sends a horrible message to the entire university. I don’t understand why LSU would do that either, fwiw.

Yeh, y'all will just go get Billy Napier and be right back in the bottom tier.

I really don’t know what ole miss is thinking

Don’t put up hard line when you have zero leverage other than “he’s a jerk if he leaves in a playoff year”

Ole Miss is protecting itself - the same thing any other school would do, including LSU. If Ole Miss wins the Egg Bowl and goes to the CFP and wins the first game, but Lane leaves after Ole Miss gets bounced in the second game on New Years day, that leaves Ole Miss scrambling to try to find a good replacement while the 15 day portal window is open. That would be a significant hit to Ole Miss and a position no school wants to be in.

It’s part of the game and OM should know and be fine with it.

That’s all talk. Ole Miss isn’t pulling anything. They’re acting like a spurned woman issuing demands and ultimatums, when really they’re just hurt. If/when he decides to stay they’ll fall head over heels for him again. OM never had and never will have leverage over Lane.
