Rhule would be a great hire

This would be a very Saban-esque career pathway.

Would be a great hire but I don't see him leaving NFL.

You guys have got to be more realistic about the resume of our hire we simply are never going to find the mythical coach who has won a national championship in the SEC and has never had a bad game or bad season and can recruit every 5 star in the country and has never had a single bad press clipping. We are never going to find that coach because he doesn’t exist. It’s amazing to me the lengths people will go to find some fault on potential hires
Saban for 12 million

You are a complete goddamn retard if you wouldn’t take Matt Rhule IMMEDIATELY as LSU HC. People like you are the reason we can’t have nice things.

Rhule pulled Baylor out of a scandal-ridden dumpster and made it a good job again.
This right here might be the best thing about potentially hiring Rhule (along with his coaching bona fides...). After the revelations of Les "Poon Hound" Miles and Ed "Meet Me At My Fishing Hole" Orgeron, we need a good dose of sanity in the HC's office.
I also think more bricks are gonna drop out of the window re: the Title IX investigation after Ed leaves (just like with Miles). Rhule's already successfully rebuilt a team and program that was left in a in a horrible, no good very bad situation.
If he's even remotely interested, kick the tires.

Holy cow his turnaround at both of those schools is crazy!!

I think he hangs around a little bit longer. Brees just left and Brady may have about 2 years left in him. The NFC south will be up for grabs once TB retires.

What am I missing? Career 47-43 college coach.
Gotta look at that trajectory at both stops in college. At Temple, he was 2-10 in year 1, 6-6 in year 2, 10-4 in year 3, and 10-3 in year 4.
At Baylor, he was 1-11 in year 1, 7-6 in year 2, and 11-3 in year 3.
Those are both pretty incredible building projects.

I would be onboard with Rhule, especially if Brady came with him.
If he left the NFL and came back to college, he would be there to stay. He wouldn't have that NFL carrot hanging out in front of him....he tried it, didn't work, so he would be content in the college world.
This is what Saban did. He tried the NFL and wasn't successful and realized college was his place. Other guys have taken that path as well.
So if Rhule jumps off the NFL train, I think he stays at a college for a very long time if he is successful at that school. This is what I'm looking for in the next hire.

Brady is one of the reasons Rhule would consider leaving the NFL. Brady’s offense has been a disaster. No identity without McCaffrey.

Unless he’s found he just absolutely hates the NFL and wants out. Woodward should definitely kick the tires. Would be a fantastic hire
He knows he doesn’t have a QB last year this year and won’t have one next year.
He could very well bail out

Losing their all world back is the main reason they’re struggling. Sam is reason # 2.

Tom Brady isn’t leaving anytime soon. He has offensive weapons galore right now and is on cruise control. Unless he gets a major injury, he isn’t quitting in 2 years.

I could be remembering this incorrectly but I swear I heard somewhere that Matt Rhule had never beaten a top 25 ranked team as a FBS head coach.
Edit: Just read that he never beat a ranked team while coaching at Baylor. He did beat two (barely) ranked teams at Temple (ECU and Navy).

Also a bad QB in Darnold. That was a bad move for him to go get Darnold.
