If this is the case, then Scotty would have been smart to leak to Delly or another friendly reporter to tamp down the Riley rumors. Instead, the perception is that we whiffed.

This happened. Feldman, shea, delly, where all adamant that it wasn't Riley. We ignored it because we didn't want to hear that

Good point....I think he did whiff. He did try to make it happen, I think. But knew when USC came knocking that USC would win. I think an offer was on the table when USC came along and Riley used LSU to get more money.

Therefore, the five top possibilities in my opinion as to likelihood:

1. Saban
2. Meyer
3. Rhule
4. Aranda
5. Swinney

You can probably rule out Swinney. Why would there be a delay for him? Deal would've already been done by now.

I think you can add in Fickell too

Your short list is short sighted.

Your deductive reason is laughable.

You need to add Kiffin

No. No he doesn’t.

You Kiffin people are just like the Napier people. You think one half decent year at Ole Miss = ready to run a real program just like the Napier people believe running a program in the Sun Belt = running a top SEC program.

Ole Miss has the best QB they’ve had since Eli this year and still got blown out by a very mediocre Bama team.

Saban
Has a recruiting assembly line that can run on automatic pilot. This makes his team an automatic contender year in-year out. Why leave a Natty machine? Only two possible answers. His wife is POed about something In Bama, or he’s board and wants a challenge before retirement. He’s a prick but I prefer when he’s our prick. Would love. Not happening.

Meyer
I don’t think Urban knows what he wants to do on any given morning. Possible. Would love.

Rhule
Depends upon two unknowns. Are the Panthers happy with him coaching, or is he happy coaching the Panthers. Would like very much, but hate waiting until the last day of NFL season.

Aranda
One year HC experience, question recruiting ability, least proven on your list. Like. Unproven with potential. Could be a home run or a whiff. Not on my favorites list, but #1 on my fall back list.

Swinney
Proven Natty HC much like Jimbo was on our first courting of him in 2015 before we screwed him. Would be an ACC coach leaving a downward trending program. Would do fine at LSU (like), but I think he wants to inherit the Bama machine more than building LSU. He stays at Clemson sticking pins in his Saban voodoo doll.

The only likely get on your list is Aranda. But the world is a strange place; only the AD can know for sure. Hope he does.

You’re pretending his time at FAU didn’t happen. And it’s retarded to discount what he has done at OM.
We would be lucky to get Lane Kiffin, but I seriously doubt he would leave Ole Miss for LSU.

Coaches playing in Conference Championships
Dave Aranda
Mike Gundy
John Harbaugh
Kirk Ferntz
Nick Saban
Kirby Smart
Mario Cristobal
Kyle Whittingham
Luke Fickell
Dana Holgorsen
Pat Narduzzi
Dave Clawson
Brian Kelly* (still in the running for a playoff birth)

NFL Coaches w/ major college experience
Matt Rhule
Urban Meyer
Pete Carroll

I’d add that Bill O’Brian as a coach still in the playoff/conference championship conversation and Brandon Staley as an NFL coach that has been mentioned.

Has not been contacted or interviewed. That has been expressed multiple times by multiple people.
We have got to stop putting his name out there.

It's not Aranda, I like him but he just doesn't have the experience to handle a big job like LSU

listen to his interviews at Baylor

I like him a lot and he is smartest guy in the room

just don't think he likes the pressure cooker that LSU would be

Saban’s recruiting system is not Alabama property. It travels with him wherever he goes. The only thing keeping him in Alabama is himself. No one can claim they know what he’s thinking. He remains a likely possibility based on all the information unfolding thus far.

how hilarious would it be to be Gundy at this point. Here we were digesting bedlam at the thought of luring riley. Gundy kicks his arse, PA playing callin baton rouge over speakers and then Gundy rides out of town to LSU.
