Things are about to get toxic in Oxford

Ole Miss is looking for clarity at some point this week about Lane Kiffin’s future with the Rebels, sources tell On3’s Chris Low, Brett McMurphy and Pete Nakos. The sixth-year head coach has Ole Miss on the precipice of the first College Football Playoff appearance in program history.
Sources have told On3 that Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter is seeking an answer from Kiffin about his future ahead of Egg Bowl game week. Kiffin has become the most popular name in this coaching carousel, with LSU and Florida courting him as their top target.

If Kiffin misses the deadline, sources have raised questions about what the ramifications could be. Could he coach Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl, even the College Football Playoff? Those questions are unanswered.
News broke on Monday afternoon that members of Kiffin’s family were in Baton Rouge. Sources tell On3 that they made a trip to Gainesville on Sunday, too.
Kiffin has brought Ole Miss to heights it has not reached in more than 50 years. He’s also the former head coach at Tennessee and USC, who is one of the most recognizable figures across the college football landscape.
The Rebels have won 10 or more games three of the past four years, including each of the past two seasons. It’s the first time that’s happened at Ole Miss since 1959 and 1960. His four 10-win seasons over the past five years are more than the team had in the previous 50 seasons combined.
“I love what we’re doing here,” Kiffin said following the Florida game last weekend when asked about his future at Ole Miss. “Today was awesome. To even talk about it right now would be so disrespectful to our players and how well they played today. We’ve got a lot of things going on here. Doing really well, and I love it here.”
As Florida and LSU continue to focus on their top target, Carter has put a contract extension on Kiffin’s desk to keep him in Oxford. Kiffin is tied for the 11th-highest-paid coach in the sport, earning $9 million this season, not including bonuses.
“I’m going to be proactive with working out a deal with Lane and Jimmy,” Carter told the Ole Miss Spirit in October. “I’d love to get something done like Indiana did with Curt Cignetti before the silly season starts. We’ll see. I believe Lane’s happy here, but you never know what can happen with coaches.”

If ole miss won’t let him coach the playoffs that’s a pretty petty thing to do.

Damn insecure gf is about to push the best thing that’s ever happened to them away.
I don’t think Ole Miss makes a play like this unless they’re pretty confident he’s already halfway out the door
Might be an attempt at rallying their troops for the playoffs/remainder of the season

Total implosion by Ole Miss!!! You hate to see it but, more than that, you love to see it!!!

If Kiffin takes a job with a conference rival before the playoffs, you cannot in any way, shape, or form let him keep coaching.

Would be epic if they run Lane off before the Egg Bowl, then lose the game and blow their playoff chances. Im pulling for this now.
