I am now expecting promotion from within. Miles is going to get worked, and if so, this may be the last straw. Even the pumpers are turning on him.

Exactly. Nobody knows how many people have actually been offerered and turned down this job. Without knowing that, how can you say LSU, Les, or Alleva have screwed this up?
This isn't a race at this point. It's best to take the time to make the right hire.
Also, none of you meltdowners have a clue how Brick would do coordinating this defense. What he did at Baylor a decade ago doesn't mean shite. Everyone just calm down, take a deep breath, and try to enjoy Lsu football rather than being terrified of failure.

You're being led on.
Alleva will do this one on the cheap. He'll hire Brick as the DC and Orgeron will not be in the mix. LSU hasn't spoken with Orgeron and will not in the future.
LSU will get Brick Haley and some unknown position coach for the coming season.

This is Les's hire.
Head coaching hire would be a different group of people.
Obvious different group of people but it's still pie in the sky thinking that everyone will come running especially if you have watched coach searches go down at many of the other premier programs recently

As opposed to the same people spending hours a day trashing the program? Why call me out?

By striking out on the two premier DC candidates available. It's obviously not clear if it's Les' or Alleva's fault, or the extent to which either of them are to share the blame, but this has been a catastrophe of a situation.
If Haley is promoted from within, this offseason will have been an abject failure. The one constant (aside from 2008) keeping LSU afloat as an almost-contender in the SEC west over Miles' tenure has been the defense. Given the addition of another big rival in the West and an overall improving division, LSU is at a crossroads and could fall precipitously as a program in terms of success and prestige.
Your mocking of posters understandably up in arms does not change this reality.

Haley has damn near mentally checked out of the hotel so the offer of DC would have to be a substantial salary increase. He is worried that if LSU fails that he will be the blame and he doesn't want to leave LSU with a Lou Tepper type reputation.

I don't think most expect a bunch of coaches to line up. But there are definitely some good coaches we could get. I highly doubt we would promote from within.

Has this search at least shown to some of you that when les goes that doesn't necessarily mean every coach in the country is going to be lining up outside of the sports admin building?
Why don't we wait until the announcement is made over what this search has shown us.
Miles could still make a good hire.
And the last time miles hired a DC, he was less than 2 years removed from a NC, he's 4 years removed from an SEC Title, and his future is not as solidified as it used to be.
There are many factors could be at play with this search.a new DC could have demands that LSU is not willing to give and hurts the process such as:
1. Salary demands for market value on certain candidates
2. Bringing over of assistant coaches that miles doesn't want that
3. The guaranteed money if miles is fired.
There are tons of things the fans don't know and will never know that could hamper this search, but it doesn't make the job some crumby undesirable job.
But as I said. Lets just let les finish this process before we go to Defcon 1.

I agree
I also hope we would never promote from within to head coach. I think the best way to replace a head coach is new blood.

I get the feeling Miles has indicated that he will step down in a couple years, and Alleva is not willing to guarantee a long term contract. This may be the issue with Chavis, Shoop, and possibly Pendergast, although others have said that Pendergast wanted to choose his own staff. Brick may end up being the only one willing to take the job ona short term basis.

Good news is if brick gets promoted we get a new head coach quicker....their will be nobody else to blame

Someone point to hope? I'm losing mine!
I am usually very positive about our program, but if we promote from within we are accepting the fact that we are a mediocre program that isn't capable of bringing in a big name coordinator. Spin it however you want, but in the SEC arms race we will be way behind when it comes to coaching.
I hope I'm wrong, but I believe Brick as DC is the nail in the coffin for Miles tenure here, I just hope Alleva goes with him.
