Your argument is that Etling is a backup qb?

Lol ok.

He's good enough to be a starter elsewhere?

CEO is not qualified to be the LSU head coach. That being said, I'm mad at Alleva, not CEO

I appreciate you explaining your position.

Here's mine: There is nothing on Coach O's resume - nothing - that demonstrates he's the best hire for LSU. His resume is very good for a position coach and recruiter. That's it.

I can even redact his HC failure at Ole Miss and his resume still shows nothing that he can lead and maintain a program.

I don't dislike the man, it's not personal. LSU is in a position to hire top candidates. Hiring O was an emotional decision.

Because O is definitely a noted QB developer.

Prom right back his Milesian tactics. When his pet coach loses, absolve him and blame the players. Very objective. This is day one. Gonna be a long two years.

I don't even understand the obsession with preserving this recruiting class

"save the recruiting class" is the ultimate fan cope

regardless, LSU would recruit just as well with Les, this new hire changes nothing and only preserves the status quo

sure, but we can just as easily straight up say he will never win more than 9 games, since you know, he never has even come close

that's fairly illogical

before LSU

Les Miles/Saban had never won a championship
or a conference championship
or won 10 games.
or had top recruiting classes

The best comparison to the Orgeron hire is Bill Stewart being hired by WVU, and I think that ended with Stewart trying to slander his replacement in the media.

The goal line play calling at the end of the Florida game should have been a bunch of red flags to people

I'm still waiting to wake up to something different

neither had been fired as a CFB HC for being the worst coach in a school's history, either

Agreed.

I'd rather lose one top recruiting class and hire the guy with the most potential - however that is defined - than hire someone to maintain a recruiting class.

LSU is losing 3-5 games every year now with top 10 classes. Is that really the benchmark for a hire - to maybe not have a top 10 class his first season?

this assumption that since Miles was stubborn and O went all political this year to be the anti-Miles and give the fans what they want so they'd get behind him so he could weasel into the job, then O will never be stubborn, is the major flaw in the religion of the Binder

The last thing LSU needed was continuity from the Miles era. O will recruit probably harder and maybe better than any coach in the country, we're just gonna have to hope he nails his staff hires.

This #TigerFamily, #oneteamoneheartbeat spiel is all ponamsky. Les needed BDP to tell him when to call TO, O needs derek to talk to sideline reporters.

you could attribute about 90% of Miles losses were due to incompetent in-game coaching.

in game adjustments
time management
playing the wrong personnel

Let's not pretend it would take a brain surgeon to improve on Les Miles' negative tendencies

It's fine to argue that saban and miles never had the success they had before lsu

But they never had the failure of Ed either

not going to act totally blind to that, but turning around Ole Miss has no parallells to the spot he is in now
