That was the same exact talking points and group think in Martin Hall that led to us promoting Dez to HC when Napier was leaving. Granted, at least Will Hall has been a D1 HC, and coordinator.

Apparently Hall just turned down the OC gig at Michigan State .

Y'all seem to forget that this guy had one magical year and the rest of his career was a massive failure. He's Gene Chizik

Clearly, the 15-0 season was the outlier and Burrow was the main contributor to that along with Brady, Chase, JJ, etc.

He did finish 51-20 at LSU, so he wasn't a massive failure outside of the natty season while here. He was 3-1 in bowls and we finished ranked #6/7 the year before the NC. He also did well as USC's interim coach after they fired Lane. Ole Miss was the gigantic turd. Seems to be better suited as a D-line coach/coordinator.

Two seasons where he took over a team someone else put together with a staff they put together.

You also left out

3–8
4–8
3–9
5-5

O had 1 mediocre season in which he lost homecoming to Troy, then he had 1 very good season with Joe Burrow as QB, and one season for the ages with most of the same team with Burrow. Then, once he had to start hiring his own coordinators, he resorted to form.

We all know you worship O. I wish it had turned out that he was not what most thought he was when hired, but that did not happen. He's not an SEC-level coach, but he did have two seasons at LSU worth celebrating.
6-6

Before Hall was fired, he started the 2024 season 1-6 which included a 44–7 loss to Jacksonville State, and a 44–28 loss to Arkansas State. His only win was against an FCS school. USM was in the Sun Belt conference which is far weaker than the American.

Well at least ya'll hired a guy who IS desirable for coordinator or higher positions at other FBS programs....unlike what we did giving the job to a 2A Catholic High School coach.

Also came out that Neal Brown wanted the job last year if Sumrall had gotten the North Carolina job.

Yikes. I hope Tulane fans enjoyed being relevant while it lasted. You'll be on ULL/LA Tech's level now.

Should've just hired napier or Shannon dawson.

While Napier did seem to have good recruiting connections down South, I think he knows it's going to be much easier to win in the Sun Belt with JMU's budget advantages over the vast majority of the conference than having to maintain such at Tulane vs. its AAC mates.

Recruiting seems to be moving into its own department and it’s not going to pay Ed what he thinks he should be paid.

I understand the criticism but Will's HC experience was at USM which is easily among the least resourced schools in the country. That's why Huff was looking to get out immediately. He was able to have some success there early on but was unable to sustain it and I doubt Huff would have been able to either. Neither are bad coaches.

I can promise you that Will regrets taking that job in retrospect.

Tulane Administration just set thei FB program back 5 yrs. This was a horrible hire. They couldn’t put more than 5000 fans in the stands with 2 very good coaches and 10 win seasons .Welcome to 1500 gameday crowds and losing.

How the heck did he get this job after completely shitting the bed at USM. Talk about failing upwards.

He coached at my alma mater while I was there. He was the one who ended my college football career, but that's a different story . I do hope to see him succeed. He was a heck of a coach who completely changed the culture at UWG in only his first season.
