If the SEC ever goes to 14 or 16 teams.....

Would the permanent rivals still be in place?
For instance, if we go to 16 teams, would we still have to play UF every year? If so, that is bullshite.

You would have to have 1 just to keep the traditional rivals like UGA/AU and UA/UT in place. If both of those rivalries ended because fricking missouri or someone came into the league people would riot.

Damn. that fricking sucks for LSU to always have UF on the schedule.

No it doesn't. Playing UF is awesome

Why? I love that game. It's always very competitive and as long as you take care of business in your own division the game does not have a huge effect on making it to the SECCG.

The LSU UF game is prob my favorite of the year. Its always close and its always a prime time game.

i love playing UF every year. next to bama, it's my most anticipated game of the year. not to mention CBS loves it too.
who would you rather have as a permanent rival in the East, Vanderbilt? South Carolina? Kentucky? that would suck!

the only other team i would consider would be Georgia. And Auburn would have a cardiac arrest if that happened.

It definitely sucked in the 90s

Not sure why they wouldn't be. I don't understand why people say if teams switched divisions these would go away. You would still play that same team every year.

You could not be more wrong on this. If you beat UF, it puts you where you want to be on the national stage. I will be pissed if we lose the UF yearly series.

You're correct to a point, but you're not looking at the implications. If AU switched, they would be playing GA every year. But doing so without having a permanent opponent, would break up AU/AL. So make AU AL's permanent opponent you say. Well then you would have to give up AL/TN. Move both AL and AU to the East and then everybody's happy. Might work, but others in the West (LSU-cough) would probably bitch about not being able to play them each year.
I'm not wed to permanent opponents, but those people are. I think maintaining a sense of overall conference membership is more important overall. IMO, it will take too long to rotate through the entire conference in term of home and home appearances when you have permanent opponents. Others disagree.

What is so good about UF? They had a good run with Spurrier and Tebow but it's over now.

It would take too long, but I'd prefer that to my favorite team not playing its biggest rival anymore.

Having to play Florida every year has done nothing but good for the LSU program

How about 4 divisions? Not sure if they could get 2 rounds for the SEC title though.

Losing Florida for a team like Missouri would suck
I'm all for adding Texas A&M but that might make schedule too difficult
Bottom line, with SEC expansion SEC will be going to a 9 game league schedule like PAC 12 and Big 10

I would be PISSED if we lost that game.

No, it's not. Gameday in Gainesville sucks. I'd rather have any other east team except Kentucky or Vandy.
