Anyone relocate to Indianapolis? I'm considering moving the family.

I'm considering leaving the North Dallas Suburbs for Indy. The current cost of living, outrageous property taxes, and the large influx of Californians are taking off the shine. I want to move to another Red state and can make a nice profit on the house, pay lower for same home w/ lower property tax in Indy. Wife and I are in medical so job opportunities should be a non-issue (we would secure position prior to move).
My biggest concern is culture and weather and uprooting family/kids.
Any area recommendations, looking at the suburbs at 1 acre or more.

I have some family in the area. The biggest issue they have is the shoveling snow.

When they show the crowd on TV at Colts games it’s older guys in blue sweaters and they always look happy. All I got

If you are in medical why Indianapolis?
I’ve never lived there but there’s little to nothing of interest to me there outside of being a half day from Chicago. I’d consider somewhere like Chattanooga, a smaller big city with a promising future.

Your kids will love the meth in Indiana. It is always in the top 5 states with serious meth issues.

My wife and her family are from just north of Indy. It’s flat as hell and really not much to do as far as outdoor activities. Carmel is really nice. It’s a suburb of Indy and has everything you’ll ever want. The people are nice up there. Just big ole pasty midwesterners. The small towns are about as red neck as one can get. Good ole boys who love to deer hunt and eat boiled cabbage.
With all being said I don’t hate Indy. The public schools are great in the burbs, there’s some cool things to do in the city and tons of sporting events all the time happening. Children's musuem is world class. If we had to move there I wouldn’t hate it but It wouldn’t be my first choice honestly.

Have you considered Mexico’s northern province of Houston?

I would not advise a southerner to migrate up into the Midwest unless for a massive raise. The Midwest is a great place to be from, not a great place to be.

how old are your kids? uprooting them for a lateral move seems silly.

The real draw is cost of living and she has family an hour away. Wife is a provider, I'm in administration so we fugure we can go nearly anywhere relatively speaking.

I’m 2 hours from Indy. Born and raised in Louisiana. It’s cold and the culture is different but I don’t know your family so hard to say if you’d like it.
I can say, considering your situation, I’d give Tulsa a hard look. Great place to live, low cost of living and only 4 hrs from Dallas.

What a soy boy, imagine being so afraid of Californians you uproot your family from one place with tall buildings to another, colder one. Texas really is soft now!!!

I second Chattanooga but I also really like Greenville, South Carolina. Knoxville isn’t so bad either. Really affordable. I have a good friend in the Florence, Alabama area and he absolutely loves it.

Any area recommendations,
I used to get laid on a regular basis on trips for work there, some hot and horny Hoosiers up there, also enjoyed going to the Indians at the old park, hope this helps

Yeah those are solid options. Chattanooga may not be my first choice it was just the first to come to mind.
Indianapolis is probably a solid place to live, but I don’t think I’d choose to go there if the options were almost limitless.

We all know the only real question is, where didn’t you used to get laid regularly?

ETA: for some reason Ft. Wayne was a hotbed of horny women, amazing hole to pole ratio there, always assumed all of the boys were out working the cornfields or something
