23 man roster for Qatar

I know this has been done but espn has an article predicting the 23 man roster that will go to Qatar barring a collapse in the last window but it is behind a paywall. What y’all thinking at this point? Seems like 16 slots should be automatic at this point
1.Steffen
2. Turner
3. Robinson
4. Robinson
5. Dest
6. Zimmerman
7. Brooks (?)
8. Richards
9. Musah
10. Mckennie
11. Adams
12. Pulisic
13. Reyna
14. Aaronson
15. Weah
16. Pepi
Do y’all agree all of those outside of maybe Brooks are locks? Anybody y’all would add to that list and who do you think rounds out the roster at this point?

Acosta is probably a lock too

One of Yedlin and Cannon will definitely be on the roster if not both. Zardes is probably a relatively safe bet as he’s really the only forward with any experience and we’re so weak at striker

GK: Steffen, Turner, Johnson - Barring injury, these will be the 3 keepers, lock it in now.
DEF: Dest, Yedlin, Cannon, Jedi, Robinson, Zimmerman, Richards, Brooks - I just don't see Gregg letting hubris getting in the way of keeping Brooks (if he's in form) off the roster when the matches matter most. Don't think we take another dedicated LB because Jedi showed this last window that he can play every minute in a 3-match window. Cannon, Yedlin and Dest can all play LB too.
MID: Adams, McKennie, Musah, Acosta, De La Torre - Maybe Busio gets in here, but I think we'll sacrifice taking an extra reserve mid because 1) our depth sucks and 2) McKennie, Musah and Adams (if healthy) will start every match and play the majority of the minutes.
FWD: Pulisic, Weah, Reyna, Aaronson, Morris, Pepi, Sargent - Taking one less mid allows us to take more attacking options and there is always a scenario where Reyna can play the midfield behind a front three of Pulisic-Weah-Aaronson or Weah-Pulisic-Aaronson. Morris will be there because Gregg loves his directness.

Assuming we qualify, it will be very interesting to see how experimental Gregg gets in Nations League this summer and I'm sure we'll have some domestic and Euro-based camps for pre-world cup friendlies.
There's always someone that comes out of nowhere and takes a seat on the world cup plane (DMB and Mastroeni in 2002, literally every striker in 2010, Yedlin, Brooks and Green in 2014.)
Could be a great chance for Scally to show something and with how garbage our striker depth is, maybe someone like Hoppe or Dike fights back in.

Sargent is going to have to start scoring some goals if he wants to get back in the squad. He did score two before the break so hopefully he continues to produce

But that's the issue, no one is scoring goals except for Pefok and I think everyone pretty much knows that he's not our starting striker.

In a sentence I never thought I would type, I think currently I’m taking Zardes over Sargent.

Honestly, I think you could put all of our striker options in a bag, just randomly pick two and it wouldn't be any better or worse than any other two.
I'm including Pepi in that as well.
It's just going to be whoever is hot at the time.

frick it, let's see if Joe-Max Moore can still run

Zardes is starting in a key qualifier and you think he won’t be on the roster?

So did Pepi and Jesus Ferreira.
Pefok and Sargent have started in qualifiers as well.
All five won't make it.

this discussion is where most of my stress level occurs at. I swear with prime Dempsey were talking about a top 5 side in the world

True but Pefok and Sargent haven’t gotten called up in the past two windows. Greg clearly doesn’t favor them at the moment and they’re running out of opportunities

Pepi, Ferreira and Zardes have been called up for 2 straight windows now and have produced 0 goals.
I seriously don't think we're far off from Gregg trying Weah, Pulisic or even Morris at the 9. I think next window we at least see a different striker called in in place of Zardes or Ferreira.
Granted, I think part of the reason why our striker pool has lacked so much production is because of our lack of directness in the attacking third hasn't led to many chances, but the few chances they have had in front of goal haven't been taken advantage of.

Pretty good list. Scally, Brooks, LDLT, Sargent, Morris are the only ones on this list that haven’t booked their tickets yet in my mind. I think Brooks, LDLT and Scally do make the plane though it’s getting awful late for Scally to make his case at the national team level. One more good outing from LDLT and he is in. The Brooks situation I think resolves itself unless he just losses his minutes at Wolfsburg.
No idea what they do after Pepi. I’m still holding out hope Dike can have a good run of health and form because we desperately need a target forward other than Pepi and none of Sargent/Morris/Pefok/Ferreira/Zardes inspire confidence at that spot.

He’s out about 6 more weeks. Sucks so much bc he could offer so much to the team as a target forward.

other than Pepi
Has not scored for club or country since scoring those 2 goals against Jamaica on October 8.
That's 789 minutes over 16 matches for USMNT, FC Dallas and Augsburg.
Yes, his ceiling is high, but if he is still cold like this by October of this year and other options are scoring, I don't want him in Qatar.
