Been playing for over a decade, self taught, no lessons. Go in and out of bouts hitting well then hitting poorly like most.

About a month ago I saw a tip on TV about keeping your right elbow attached to your side throughout your swing and took it to the range. I’ve never hit it better, more consistent, and pure since then. I’ve had three of my best rounds as well. Hope this is a permanent fix.

What was your light bulb moment?

Hopefully I can report it back here when it happens.

Although, I like that elbow tip. I was spraying the ball my last round and got a lesson to figure it out. He gave me a drill to focus on coming inside out. This elbow tip might be a good swing thought when actually hitting a full shot.

That the arms only move up and down in front of your chest.

So many different techniques to figure out.

But my favorite was when I got the confidence to hit a big bunker shot out of a greenside bunker. Get down low, open your stance, open the face, and take a big swing. When the ball checks up and sits close to the hole, you'll know you "got it" then.

There are three swing thoughts you need to have. Right elbow in, loose grip and head behind the ball through impact. Thank me later.

For me it was pressing my left arm against my chest at end of the backswing then letting the chest turn start the downswing. Creates a nice draw on all shots with crisp contact.

I wish that I had a dollar for every time that I thought that I had found the " Secret " to a perfect swing...

Tucking that arm works great for the flat belly player. Us barrel chested guys have more difficulty staying connected.

After years of struggling with consistency, someone got me on video. saw that I was rolling my hands upon taking the club back and taking the club back dead inside. Change I made and still is my only swing thought is to keep the club head outside my hands when taking it back. Obviously lets you get through the ball and release the club head as opposed to coming over the top. There were some great days and even decent stretches coming over the top but it was all timing and was never going to be consistent.

When I realized the left wrist rotating through the downswing was just as important as the right wrist.

In fact, when I went from feeling like my right hand hit the ball to feeling like the left hand did all the work. I became a scratch golfer in about 3 years.

I'll let you know when it happens.

The biggest jump for me came from an app that was essentially a metronome. It has one sound to start the swing, one to start the downswing, and one to hit the ball. I can’t even remember the name of it. I remember complaining that it was $15 for an app.

Getting into rhythm made a world of difference. After that, getting properly fitted caused another big drop.
