trying to restrict drop boxes and vote harvesting is RAYCISSSSSSS

quote:

U.S. District Judge Mark Walker in Tallahassee blocked the state from enforcing provisions aimed at reducing the use of drop boxes for ballots, making it more difficult for third-party organizations to collect voter registration forms, and banning groups from offering food, water and other aid to people waiting in line to vote

If you can’t go to a polling station and if you need a snack in line you should definitely not be voting.

Too bad for him, election laws are state laws, not federal. This decision will be reversed quickly. Judges like this should be disbarred.

There are also federal laws governing elections. Regardless, you are correct that this will likely get reversed.

Walker also criticized the U.S. Supreme Court for its 2013 decision weakening the Voting Rights Act (VRA), the federal civil rights legislation that protects minority voters from discrimination. That ruling struck down a key provision, known as preclearance, that required certain states with a history of racial discrimination to get federal approval to change voting laws.

As part of his decision, Walker said he would require preclearance for the next 10 years for any new law governing third-party voter registration groups, drop boxes or aid to voters waiting in line.

Not that I didn't know it was a partisan decision when I saw it was an Obama appointee but this seals it. This was a political statement that he knows will be overturned.

Liberal judges, trying to make their own laws, and ignore state and federal laws, it's what they do.

Miss Lindsay voted for this confirmation as did other republicans.

This is on brand for Judge Walker …he has been known to fully legislate from the bench. He will say- the language of the statute is wrong and this is how it should read and just straight up change Florida Statutes…it’s annoying

There should something in place that can punish or easily remove judges that make habit of doing this when it will just be overturned because it violates federal law.
