They scored 1 goal and got an own goal. Surprisingly todays own goal is the first and only of the tournament so far.

Well, since Qatar’s independence in the 70s, I’m gonna wager and say they wouldn’t be close to qualifying otherwise.
As far as I can remember, pretty much every World Cup host country’s national team is at least somewhat competent in soccer. Even South Africa (2010) has made it without having to host at one point.
