How many shots should Zion get a game?

Whatever that number is, it should be way more than he gets now.
Dude should never get less than 20 attempts

If we're being truly honest, about 16-18 with 12-14 free throws.
That'd put him around 28-30ppg

Look at other stars. They’re shooting 20 plus a night.
Zion needs to be the offense.
Everyone else should be just shooting catch and shoot 3s minus Ingram

I’d like to see him average about 4 more shots per night but Zion’s shot attempts haven’t been the problem over this 3 game skid. It’s how bad the offense is once he leaves the floor.(with the exception of CJ&Val in the first)

I think for Zion to average more than 20 shot attempts a game, he will need to shoot 2-3 mid range shots and 2-3 threes a game. I can’t really expect the guy to drive to the basket 28 times a game. He already does it at a historically high and efficient level, but it is a weapon that takes a lot of energy to deploy. He also takes a lot of pounding deploying it.
His shot attempts are already artificially lower bc he gets fouled on 4-5 attempts a game (which don’t add to his shot attempt total).
I will say, there seems to be 2, somewhat baffling 3-5 minute segments a game where Zion barely touches the ball. That probably needs to change unless everyone else is just red hot during those minutes.

You have to understand how hard it is on his body and the amount of energy it takes for him to get to his spots on ball to get shots.
We basically give him the ball and say go get your own offense. With the amount of times he gets hacked, physically punished by multiple defenders, and playing against a wall of defenders on most of his possessions, I can't imagine him putting up too many more shots.
If you want him to score more, we really need to get more creative with him off ball. He's working really hard to get his shots.

i agree that number needs to be about 18-22 shots - and frankly probably at least 3 or 4 of those should be threes.
giannis, for example takes 21 shots a game and over the last four years has averaged just under 4 three point attempts per game. zion appears to be a better 3pt shooter than giannis and is more efficient from two. no reason why he should be shooting any less than freak.

24. I'll take 60% of 24 shots with a pile of ft's all day long.

Giannis also gets 12 free throws a game to force defenses to back off of him. If the refs gave Zion that many free throws regularly, then he would pretty much average what Giannis is averaging in points.

Giannis is about the only one you can argue(correctly IMO) that deserves more FTs at the line. He scores almost as much as Zion in the paint, but he shoots an absurd 79% on shots at the rim to Zion's 74%.
But there are quite a few others ahead of Zion in FTs per game that have no business doing so.

For this Pels team to become a serious contender, Zion must do what all superstars need to do...and that is to make the other players on his team BETTER.
Last coupla games, Zion has 61 points and 17 assists of which I think 15 of his assists were kickouts for 3s. There is a huge difference in an assist for 3 and an assist for 2. Do the math. If Zion has 9 assists and 8 are for 3s...that is the same as 13 "normal" assists. NOBODY on our team comes anywhere close to Zion on % of assists for 3 points.
I feel sure our resident nerd analytics guy (Sammy something or other) is aware of this so expect Zion to continue trying to up his kickout assists.
Bottom line: Zion should take about 18 shots per game with maybe 6-8 free throws which should get him around 27/28 points per game...then, throw in 8 assists or so with 6 or 7 of them being for 3...and you've got a true superstar that makes the rest of the team MUCH better.
Now...we've got about 4 months for somebody to teach Zion how to box out on the boards and we'll be in business.

How many shots should Zion get a game?
Obviously this number is very dependent on how teams play him. You don’t want Zion to have to constantly force the action if teams are actively trying to double him. It will hurt his effectiveness and lead to turnovers. The bottom line is you want Zion to be the focal point of the offense when he is out there and make the defense pay for however they choose to play him. We have good enough players around him that he doesn’t need to necessarily force shots if the defense is insistent on taking them away.

Zion doesn't shoot. He goes hard to the rim. He can only do that so much due to the physical toll. I think he's been using correctly now - just needs a fair whistle.

Balance the whistle and Zion is just as efficient at the rim.

We’ve seen Zion take a few midrange shots. And he’s maybe like 40 percent t on them.
Why do you think he won’t shoot it more?

Scoring more efficiently and getting to the line are infinitely more valuable than shooting jump shots at a 40% clip

He currently shoots around 15 shots per game, almost all of them super efficient at the rim shots.
I prefer him continue to do that as opposed to taking 20 shots per game and simply adding 5 more midrange jumpers or 3s. I'd rather guys like BI/CJ/Trey who are efficient with those shots take those 2 shots and Zion continue taking the efficient shots.
15 shots per game when we're at full strength seems fine, especially if he got a fair whistle and was getting 3-4 more FTs per game.
Since BI got hurt, Zion is at 17.3 shots per game, which is fine as he's averaging 29.7ppg in that span which is just stupid good efficiency.

Zion’s game currently isn’t set up for much more volume in shot attempts. He is a bull but takes a beating on those attempts.
he’ll be a 25 to 30 shot attempt guy once he gets a mid range. I think he’s going to get to a point where he’s shooting open 3’s regularly though soon. You can see he’s getting more comfortable there.
