I personally am loving the new MLB pitch clock rules. Totally has reinvigorated the game, in my opinion. Actually excited about watching baseball for the first time in years.

Just talked to this grumbler about how he can’t stand the pitch clock. I asked why - said he’s “old school.” But couldn’t articulate a single reason for why he’s against it. He muttered something about more stolen bases but couldn’t really form a coherent thought about it.

I will say this- you lose some of the drama of the huge pitch. The drama of the 3-2 game on the line pitch can’t be replicated in 20 seconds. But the benefits of the pace of the action and the decreased game times more than makes up for that.

Have you ever heard any legit reasons to be AGAINST the pitch clock? Some people just like being miserable.

I don't mind the pitch clock. I DO mind limiting the number of pickoffs and at bats ending on a no pitch strike against the batter/ball against the pitcher. I also don't like limiting the shift.

ETA: Also your posts read like an FBI agent, go frick yourself Glow Worm

I like it so much I want to see it everywhere. Grocery store checkout line, Church service, the bedroom, just to name a few.

The pitch clock is awesome. Not a fan of the throw over rules and how they impact steals, that change is BS and too much of an advantage for the runner

I wish they would add an additional 5 seconds but overall I'm for it

I hate the new rules. Strategy is the point of baseball. And now a pitcher can’t throw over more than two times UF runner is on against one batter. Also why not let the pitcher go through pitches he wants? And why not let the batter be comfortable in the box? Only to save time? Why are you in such a hurry?

I get what you are saying but this mentality was turning the entire game into a museum exhibit and sucking the life out of the game. You speed it up, make these guys perform faster, make faster decisions, it’s a more lively on field product.

150 years of history and traditions washed away on the whims of Marketing Consultants. If you can't sit still to watch 9 innings of baseball, go do something else.

The only people I’ve seen that don’t like the new rules are 55+ year old boomers who “want to watch good traditional baseball” as if the pitch clock did anything but eliminate the bullshite that made games last forever but contributed nothing to the outcome.

As much as I love baseball, the purists that always bark about the game are insufferable. It’s a game. Shut up and watch.

Until the 90's, game times were right at 2 1/2 hours. This is just getting the game back to that. Or as you said, history and tradition.

A guy who hosts a podcast I listen to hates it (he's in his mid 40s). But he's also a Mets fan so frick him.

I am in my 30's.

Anyone who calls others Boomers as an insult is an immature child making my generation look bad. Have some respect for your elders and the game of baseball.

Hate the new rules with a passion. I've only watched one game this year so far. Didn't like the pace. There is something in between speed pitching and total stalling.

Clocks don't belong in baseball.

Umpires should have been given authority to control pace of play, not a clock.

I don’t mind it but would love them to look at it and tweak if needed with runners on. If runners are going to steal more one of the best advantages you have as a pitcher is holding the baseball. 20 sec is probably enough between pitches to allow for that but I wouldn’t mind a few more with runners on, especially with limited pickoff attempts.

One thing that sticks out from my days playing in the minors, our coaches used to harp on pace a ton. Basically if you are slower, go at that pace and if you are faster paced, go at that pace. You will pitch better in your natural state.
I think these new rules may affect some guys performance more than others and may knock some out of the game for just feeling rushed and screwing up execution.
It’ll adjust over time but the first year or two may be messy for some

I like it for regular season but do not think it should apply during the postseason.

I looked and didn't see this response, so I figured I'd get it out of the way:

"It's ok baw. Your old lady says no pitch clock needed in the bedroom. You are always well under 20 seconds"
