I've cried, I've been so elated

I'm so indescribably proud of this team and this university. I knew what was to come in the 8th inning and just lost it. This is a magical place that I pray flourishes for years and years and years beyond my death on this earth. It has given me so much happiness and joy throughout my life. Long live LSU.

I have to admit I was right there with you.
This team just seems to hit different. Then watching Skenes in the 9th bouncing up and down like a damn toddler about to get a treat was just icing on the cake. With two outs left, that man who in a few weeks will have more money than most people can fathom was standing there with "his boys" bouncing up and down with excitement.
I am damn proud of this team and to think, we did it without 2 or 3 future major league pitchers who are out injured.
We staaaacked, the baseball world is fricked.

Someone was cutting onions around me when Thompson batted for the first time on Monday and the crowd support for him was deafening. Same thing happened when Skenes carried Milazzo. So much on Monday was special. I guess I’m getting soft in my middle-ages.

I can't believe there are that many opposing fans on Tigerdroppings to even downvote what you said. I started LSU in 1979 and graduated in 1983 and agree with every bit of what you said. If you are not all about LSU fighting Tigers then stick to many of the other forums that Chicken has provided.

I cried in the stadium, I cried on the way home, I’ve cried since getting home.
My grandfather passed in December. My grandfather (and with Dad) has witnessed so many amazing LSU sports memories, taken me to so many, and I got to take my son to his first LSU Natty in Omaha this weekend.
The memory itself is special. It’s different shared with your son. It’s way way way different to realize you shared something 4 generations deep. That’s what makes this place special.

Crying over a baseball game is infantile. There are many on these boards struggling with real problems that life has dished out. Not everyone has life so easy that a sporting event takes on such meaning.
I, too, am proud of this team. I love LSU, and graduated in 1977.

Grown men crying over a game played by 17-24 year olds that they don’t have any connection with other than the jersey they wear. Absolutely pathetic.

I’m blubbering like a baby right now.

I cried when I spilled a full glass of bourbon onto the floor thanks to my elbow.

I respectfully disagree, I for one don't cry over problems life dishes out, it's a waste of time and doesn't solve the problem. Crying over a sporting win is a totally different situation, it's a expression on joy and a way to celebrate. And yes I cried Monday night after the game and I cried again when Skenes carried Milazzo on his back to the dog pile, and I feel no shame in doing so.

Seriously? A show of sentimental or joyful tears is pathetic? Because we all suffer and lose loved ones and have health problems I can’t shed a year when I’m moved by something? Ok, but it sounds like you overestimate your own opinion to have that kind of angry and derisive reaction. Call me crazy but I think a man is entitled to his tears whenever the frick he pleases .

I was there with my 4 year old son for the first time together at an LSU sporting event. My eyes watered up when I looked in the rearview mirror and he was dead asleep on the drive home Tuesday. It was a great night. I've never been to a sporting event that was that big of a blowout that never lost it's energy. It stayed on the whole time.

It’s not just the game, it’s the internal struggle we all feel and it gets intertwined in something you care about. That’s why people show emotion, this brings a lot of memories for people and they also see something in the players that reminds them of their kids or themselves etc.
If you are from Louisiana, you likely cheered for LSU since you were little, I feel like it gets hard wired.

Who the heck downvotes this?
ETA: Never mind. Found two.
It’s not just tearing up at “the game,” it’s the emotional connection people have with LSU. Some families have been watching LSU athletics for generations.
That means a lot to a lot of people. I know it does for me. I lost my dad 8 years ago and he and I were at every game for football,(all three national championships)he never made it to a baseball game but we always watched it on tv. My birthday present to him was getting him on the field in Tiger Stadium during a game. He sadly never got to do that. There isn’t a second during a game, any game, where I don’t think about him.
To say “it’s pathetic” is pathetic on your part for not considering the bigger picture and how much it means and affects other families.
Was it pathetic when Beloso teared up and started getting choked up when he spoke about how much LSU means to him in the post game interview?

I lost my dad 3 years ago.
He went to all but 3 football home games (Hurricane Georges, dumbass sister's 2nd wedding and a brief illness) since he got season tickets after 1958 season until he could no longer manage the stadium steps or get to Baton Rouge. I think he might have come to just one baseball game.
I was his date every Saturday night in Death Valley and there isn't a day I don't wish he was still here to cheer for the Tigers.
I understand the emotions and the deep love he and others have for LSU.
My dad was very proud to have gone to LSU. I don't think his parents were college grads.

I see we got a couple of dipshits in here. I admit i did not cry winning this championship but did shed a few over previous ones. Its not about crying over a bunch of 20 something's winning a championship in sports its the memories you have watching YOUR team over many years and sharing these memories with your kids or relatives that are no longer alive. Its not always clear to some people on why people cry about certain things(obviously we see it this thread) but LSU to alot of people are great memories that are created over a lifetime and shared with the people we love. Btw it doesn't have to be just about sports either.

I’m glad we didn’t have to use the excuse of losing the arms we did as the reason we didn’t win it all. The regret/frustration would’ve been large.
