Thursday afternoon I climbed a tree and after getting up, didn't like the situation. Had to climb down and start over in another so was late getting set up. This 8 got on me right as I was taking the pull up rope off my bow. I had to grab and arrow and draw sitting down with my quiver on the bow which I never do. My draw stopped him and I made a hurried shot at about 8 yards. The blood ran out too quickly for comfort so I got the hell out. We let him lay over night and got a dog on him the next morning. Not sure the dog helped a whole lot, but it was better 6not having him.

While skinning, I found a Montec head between the skin and sternum. No sign of the guy's arrow or insert. No infection and no scar from entree anywhere. Anyway, I was on a roller coaster of emotions because I thought we were not going to find him. Pretty damn happy with this one.

Rocket Steelhead 100. I don't think they have been made in a while. I stocked up on replacement blades years ago.

Very nice buck Alx !!!
I’m guessing the broadhead was from a straight down shot. Not my preferred but I’m 5 of 6 on that shot choice.

Of course I don’t shoot Montecs though. ;)

Really puzzling. I think straight down would have killed him. My best guess was a low shot that followed the ribs and never hit lung. We were in an extreme hurry to get out of there so we didn't investigate as fully as we could have.

Ms. so they don't feed anyone. Right, zero time to get nervous. I got the shakes about ten seconds after.

That’s a dandy. My buddy had to shoot with his quiver on a couple of weeks ago, bc he was in the process of getting down, said it makes a huge difference, so great job!

Damn nice congrats! It's amazing that a stuck broadhead wound ever heals. You'd think that it would keep cutting stuff while they were moving around. Obviously didn't mess him up too much.
