He was a larger than life figure, for sure.

David Letterman, when his show was peak, loved inviting Simmons on the show and teasing him. That's usually the first thing I think of when I think of Richard Simmons. The exercise stuff kind of pre-dates me.
Dr. Ruth, another self-made celebrity from the same era, also died. I would have bet a million dollars that she was already dead. Had no idea she was still kicking around in her 90s.

RIP
Wonder what that means for the chances the biopic staring Pauly Shore happening. Had been the news recently that Simmons disapproved.

His appearances on David Letterman were hilarious. Dave would just abuse him and Richard played along perfectly. Strange guy but hard to dislike him.

I met him once. Talked with him for a few minutes. Super nice. I can’t say anything bad about him… truly an original!

Born in New Orleans. Seemed like a genuinely nice person who actually cared about helping people get healthy\lose weight.

He helped a lot of people. He was a goofy character, but a whole lot of folks got in shape cause of him.

I mean, the timing couldn't have been worse as far as getting overshadowed goes.
RIP. Strange guy, but always seemed extremely genuine and humble
