Ever read a novel, saw a description of a dish you've never heard of, and thought “Ive gotta try that?”
For me, it was reading Dracula and Jonathan Harker’s description of “Robber Steak”:

I dined on what they called ‘robber steak’—bits of bacon, onion, and beef, seasoned with red pepper, and strung on sticks, and roasted over the fire, in simple style of the London cat’s meat!

Hmm... a type of shish kabob with a small hunk o steak wrapped in a few layers of onion then wrapped in bacon sounds pretty amazing.

In the Maltese Falcon, Sam Spade ate at John’s Grill and had lamb chops, baked potato, and sliced tomatoes.
Author Dashiell Hammett was said to be a frequent customer of the restaurant.
When I was in San Francisco, I ate at John's and ordered the "Sam Spade’s Lamb Chops, Served with Baked Potato and Sliced Tomatoes". I had certainly heard of and eaten lamb chops before, but not that particular combo.

We started reading the Redwall series at night. A lot of food in there and it all sounds delicious.
There's an official cookbook but also found this from Reddit with pics.
Recipes of Redwall (from the works of Brian Jacques)

Reading Jaws back in 1974, Chief Brody hated his wife's dinner party because they had gazpacho, which he gave a description that was meant to sound disgusting. I had never heard of it, so I looked up a recipe, I have been making it every summer for 40 years.

You might like this:
They present excerpts from the book that reference some dish, then provide a recipe for that dish.
Since the actual novel includes no recices, all are a stretch, some more than others.

Mrs was gifted a Friends cookbook. Cook and eat whatever the show is doing that episode. Haven’t used it but waiting for my Moist Maker sandwich! Maybe this thanksgiving.
