Must Win Saturday

If LSU loses on Saturday, I think are season gets outta control and goes into a downward spiral with our schedule. We win and we can gain some confidence going into the next couple weeks and maybe get rolling. We have to win this game vs Ole Miss.

While I agree that is a possibility, I don't think its a forgone conclusion. In his 2 years here, BK has lost a big game in the middle of each season and the team never quit on him before so I'd be surprised if they quit now.

Or is it a can’t lose game.

"Must win" in what context?
Having a chance to reach the CFP? No. It's likely a 10-2 SEC team will make the CFP. Obviously LSU's margin for error would be gone with a second loss, but it's not a "must win" in that context.
To save BK's job? Not hardly. He's not going anywhere anytime soon with it being year 3 of a 10 year, $100M deal
To have a winning record? Nope. On this date exactly two years ago LSU was thumped at home by Tennessee for their second loss. They won 5 of the next 6 and reached the SEC Championship game.
I think people throw around the term "must win" FAR too much. It would be a nice win...a great win...but not a "must win"

Possible, but depending on how the game goes… let’s say we lose a close one. I could still see us winning the last 6 to go 10-2 (7-1 SEC).
Ole Miss is the worst matchup against our defense

Agreed, this is a program defining game for Kelly. Show up and win at home. Botched USC earlier this year. There is no room to frick up

I've lost count? What number are we on now in terms of "program defining games" under Kelly? 4? 5? 6? Hell, this might be the second or third "program defining" game just this season

He got embarrassed by Tennessee at home 2 years ago and went on to win the SECW.

This game is huge for both teams . We are in the same situation and very much alike as teams

Truthfully we can't define what kind of program we have on a week-to-week basis. Are we good or lucky? I am leaning toward us being a program that has underachieved. Yes, this could be a program defining game in the sense if we play to our abilities, don't screw up drives with dumbass penalties, and actually tackle some players that wear blue on the first try.....we might be a good program.

Honestly, if we are going to throw around ridiculous hyperbole it's much more of a "program defining" game for Ole Miss than LSU. Ole Miss hasn't been a true national contender in decades. 60+ years. This is seen as the season it is all going to come together. Successful HC. Most talented roster they've had in a while. Lots of returning production. Seemingly favorable schedule to at least go 10-2...then they unexpectedly lost to Kentucky.
If they lose on Saturday they almost assuredly have to win out to reach the CFP with Georgia still on the schedule. If they don't, it's entirely possible they lose much or their roster, and maybe HC, to be banished back to SEC also-ran after this season. The game Saturday could be the difference between them reaching a height they haven't reach in generations and staring down the barrel of the realization it may never happen.
I don't think this is a "program defining" game for LSU or Kelly. This team shouldn't have ever been expected to be a true championship contender. But it is possible, thanks to Kentucky, LSU could significantly drive the nail into the coffin of Ole Miss's playoff/championship dreams with a win on Saturday.
If you are an LSU fan you came into the season hoping for the best, but not expecting a championship caliber team. If you are Ole Miss THIS is "next year", and if they miss it "next year" may not come around for a long, long time.

The next one is always important
It doesn’t make a sense to beat ole miss and then lose the next one

Definitely a big game. But we are right where we wanted to be after that frustrating loss in the opener. “Get to 4-1 with Ole Miss coming to town and see what happens”
Let’s see what happens. A win and we are squarely in the playoff hunt.

Agreed. Biggest game of Kelly's career at LSU.

OM is always a must win for LSU. But, with the offenses are about even, this is a push. Not the defense, OM clearly has the edge here. This is why LSU will probably lose this one. CBK did not do his due diligence for the defense again. This will bight him in the arse this week against OM. LSU loses this one and then on the road against an Ark team that is trending up after beating TN. I hate it, but its just the facts. Losing Gilloury and Perkins just compounded the situation. LSU will not be able to keep up with the fast paced OM offense and it will show late. Again. Not enough depth. Sucks.

LSU 23

As if Perkins was going to make a difference
Actually it looked like LSUs defense looked improved without Perkins on the field.

They don’t have to quit to lose ball games. They could just be not very good

Nah
Ole Miss is really good. One of the better teams we’ll play. Let’s be honest, Ole Miss is better than LSU. You guys are forgetting just how bad we can play. Some of you must have been sleeping during the USCe game. You guys do know that should’ve been a loss… it wasn’t just one questionable call, or one mistake… we pulled that win out of our asses. It was Les Miles level times 10.
LSU has to be on point and not make any mistakes to have a chance.

We needed this as a reminder. I had no idea.

I think this is a SEASON defining game, not a program defining game. Win this and our playoff hopes are very much alive. Lose and we have to win out and possibly get some lucky breaks to make the playoffs.
