Let me start by saying Frick this mower
Ran last year and sat up
New starter
New fuel lines
New filter
Cleaned out the carb

Still nothing.

Brand new carb. Runs for a few seconds with spray but backfires.

Any ideas OB?

What type of choke does it have? My Honda has a wax choke that failed. Sounds similar. Would only start with fluid.

It needs air, fuel, & spark to run. Figure out what it ain’t got, there’s your problem…

Runs with spray in the throat of the carb...

Bad pump diaphragm? Bad fuel? Clean the carb again but put it back together correctly this time?

Try some Seafoam. Worked on my mower with similar issues. It could be a cheap fix.

It's not getting fuel. If it only runs after you spray into the throat of the carb.

Fuel filter pointed the right direction?

Does it have a shutoff valve?

Does it have a pulse pump or it is gravity fed?

Have you gotten fuel out of the line at the carb where you're certain fuel is reaching the carb, just not getting past it?

Is it a cheap Amazon carb? Or an actual OEM replacement?

i had this problem recently. thought the battery was dying so i jumped it and it ran fine for half the yard and then killed on me mid mow....tried to start it up again...no crank. went to check the spark plug and it was all good.

anyway, after a bunch of trouble shooting....long story short
turned out to be a loose battery cable

felt like a dumbass pulling the plug (multiple times)
