It is still warm and the wasp are still active so be careful out in the woods. Me and my buddy were clearing some down trees yesterday evening and managed to stir a nest up. I got hit a couple of times and he got hit about 5 times. The one on my ankle still hurts this morning.

We never saw the nest or were they were coming from exactly.

I really hate those bastards.

I got in a nest a couple years ago. My face was so swollen had to show my wife my driver’s license before she would let me in the house!

My Catahoula found some in the ground in my backyard last week. She stuck her nose where it didn't belong for about 3 seconds.

I hit them pretty often working in the woods. I make it a point to wear long sleeves, jeans, gloves and a bee keepers hat. I was stung 14 times back in August. Those damn things got inside my hood. No fun.

I once parked a 3 wheeler on top of the opening to a yellow jacket nest in the ground for about 15-20 minutes while we were working on a ladder stand. We got absolutely destroyed when we went to move the 3 wheeler. my uncle drove up to see the wheelers at thetop of a hill still running then followed a trail of clothes until he found us at the bottom of a hill in underwear covered in stings. Good times

Probably 25 years ago me and a buddy were squirrel hunting and we found a big nest in the ground. His dumbass shot the nest. They started boiling out . I ran dropping my gun, took my vest off while I ran back to the truck. I got hit 3-4 times and buddy got lit up. The truck was probably 4-500 yards from the nest. They were swarming around the truck for a good 15-20 minutes. Them frickers are savages.

Good to know. I was on the verge of bush hogging my trails. Last year did it Nov. 6. Think I’ll wait for another cold spell. Had several run-ins with those bastards, the worst being 7 stings.

climate control is nice, but the biggest benefit to a cab tractor to me will always be protection from bees/hornets

Kicked a can out of an old farmer's trash pile with a yellar jacket nest. They chase you for ever.

Worse was getting under the red wasp nest in my boat. Tried to troll out of there but the trolling motor was hung up on the bottom. My friend at the back of the boat never got stung.

Them little bastards are like kamikazes once disturbed. If there is a nest in the vicinity, I am guaranteed to find it I always enjoy getting my revenge with gasoline in the hole

I’ve gotten into them a bunch of times.Worst was at Larto Lake,I was fishing at the south end of the island in the cypress trees.White perch were biting good, some of the biggest I’ve caught(pushing 2 lbs each).
I started getting the urge to crap, tried to fight it off but eventually I couldn’t hold it anymore.Drove my boat up on shore, grabbed my t.p.and ran up in the woods,Pulled down my pants and squatted on top of a yellow jacket nest.Bastard ate me up,couldn’t run very well with my pants around my ankles.
Eventually did my business, got back in my boat and went back to fishing.Well, they had quit biting and my chest got tight and I was short of breath.Didn’t have a cellphone then so I went over by a store and if it got worse I was going to call an ambulance. After awhile it passed so I went home.
From experience I learned to never use a white headlight at night to eradicate a nest, only use red.I tried to spray a yj nest at night with white light, one of them flew at the light and stung me in the corner of my L eye.

Every time I’ve been stung by yellow jackets my chest gets tight and I get short of breath but it never progressed,to anaphylaxis like I did when bumblebees got me a few weeks ago.

My wife had gotten a Epi pen from a friend and it saved my arse,I got home and started itching like crazy,I got up to get a drink of water and passed out on kitchen floor. She heard me hit the floor, couldn’t feel my pulse and stuck me with the E.P.Bp was very low but it came up in a few minutes and I got ok.

My advice to anyone that goes in the woods and gets stung occasionally is to get an Epipenand carry it.One never know when they’ll have a bad reaction.I’ve been stung by bumblebees a couple of times before and never had a reaction until this time.

My go to way of killing them is to use a 10'piece of 1" pvc and a 90*

Slowly push the pipe to where the nest is, put a small funnel into the 90 and slowly pour gas into funnel.

This lets you put the gas right where it needs to be without getting them all stirred up.

Back after Ida I was working storm recovery and my wife was cleaning up the yard and found a nest back by our ditch. I threw a sandbag on top of the hole and waited til dark when I got home. I emptied two whole cans of wasp killer down that hole before they stopped coming out.

I dug out the nest the next day. Holy hell I had no idea how deep those things were.
