We have tried everything, they keep coming back.

IMO, there is no solution.

Taurus Trio G. Spread spring and summer, unless more frequent rains.

Diatomaceous earth

Put a good bit on top of the mound. Get a shovel and break up the mound and mix it in. Put a little more or top.

It will kill the entire pile within a day.

Bengal will kill the whole bed overnight, it’s impressive to see the big pile of them dead the next day.

Topchoice will wipe them out but you need someone with a license to buy it for you.

I tried a lot of things mentioned here with no good results. About 8 years ago someone told me about Bifen IT and how good it is for mosquitoes, red ants, termites, spiders etc. but you need to do a whole yard application.

I bought a spray tank and mounted it on a lawnmower rollover bar with a boomless spray nozzle. Now all these critters are gone. Do not spray on fruit, vegetables or flowers, it will kill bees.

At first, I did a whole yard spray then two weeks later a second application, now an application about every 3-4 months. I mentioned Bifen to a friend who is in charge of a city ball field and was complaining about mosquitoes and ants. Every time I see him he thanks me for recommending this product.

You don’t think bees ever light on the grass you’ve sprayed the Bifen on?

I have a hard time broadcast spraying insecticides even though I hate fire ants with a fiery passion.

Taurus SC, I use about 3-4 oz per acre in the Spring before a rain. Also pit 1 oz of MSM turf to take care of the stickers.

Some redundant recommendations here, but none of them bad.

I also recommend the Taurus Trio G.

It's called "trio" because it contains Bifenthrin (the active ingredient in Bifen IT, Talstar, etc), Fipronil (the active ingredient in TopChoice and Taurus SC) and lambda-cyhalothrin (Cyonara). Pretty much covers all the recs so far, but in one product.

Amdro bait granules, don't apply with rain in the forecast, and don't water it in. Just sprinkle around the mounds. Do not disturb the mounds. Simply sprinkle a good bit on and around the mounds.

They eat it up like sugar, deliver it to the queen and the rest of the hive, and the whole colony dies. It doesn't kill them instantly, which is the beauty of it. They eat it, carry it inside the hive, deliver it to everyone, then they all die.

The most effective way to get rid of them is to treat all the ant hills on the same day. I use Ortho Orthene Ant Killer, very effective stuff and usually kills within a day.
