I think BK has some time before he’s a total mistake/failure for me. But I feel like there was so much pressure after O to win right away that we shot ourselves in the foot. It was about getting a big name, taking him from a blue blood program, even better. I remember at one point people would have been happy if we got Jimbo. CBK wasn’t going to come unless he got a fat contract, why would he? We should have been patient and hired someone younger and less expensive. I hope we learn from this as an organization and as a fan base. We will now pay for our lack of patience a few years ago with being patient until 2030.

Ed Orgeron is how we got here. People don’t realize when you lose nearly 50 scholarship players in a single offseason, it takes a lot of time and recruiting to build a team back up.

But the rant doesn’t want to hear or think about that.

Why would anyone think a team should win right away when the previous coach was fired?

Fair point but when the new coach comes into the situation O left us in and plays for the SEC championship in year one, it’s reasonable to expect said new coach to continue to improve once recruiting improved.

Kelly has gotten worse in years two and three, even with a Heisman winner in year two.

I agree. But, 10 years? Woody shat the bed on that one.

Quit with this Coach O bullshite. It is Woodward how we got here. That dumb mother fricker only knows how to give out big, long contracts. He screwed us on Coach O extension and has screwed us with CBK. He screwed A&M too.

because that team was already talented enough to win right away.

Well, the rich knuckleheads that paid O , and then were conned into paying this bum now, are to blame. Woodward is the best salesman since Erik Estrada selling beach front swamp properties at 2am.

that contract was pretty much market rate.
schools not even on LSU’s tier are handing out similar contracts.

hell, Kiffin gets an automatic year added to end of his deal (at $8
9 mil) just for winning 7 games.

oh, and you may want to do a little. ore research.
the guy that followed Woodward at A&M gave Jimbo an extension, so that one isn’t even on him.

Surely you aren’t dogging Woodward for giving a raise to a coach that won a NY6 bowl then followed it up with a 15-0 NC?

Yeah it fell apart after but every AD in the country would’ve given that extension/raise.

The fallout was similar to getting the Repeat Offender aka Death Penalty. No one wants to hear it. A few tried to warn others yet it fell on deaf ears.

The portal was used to fill holes in the roster. The majority of those players have proven to be not SEC caliber players. The portal is not NFL free agency. The few high caliber players who jump into the portal usually have contacted & made deals with the school of their choice prior to even getting in the portal.

Even with recruiting classes that were highly ranked, not every pans out. The same occurrences happen with classes around the country including places like Alabama, UGA & Texas. Hell Saban was known for "processing" players who didn't pan out during his time at Alabama. The ones who haven't panned in Kelly's first few classes are magnified because it hurts a roster that is already lacking quality depth.

Not every true freshmen or true sophomore is an immediate impact player despite what many believe. Most players take time to physically & mentally develop from high school to the college game. This isn't a video game, it real life. Immediate impact freshmen are rare in college football. The only ones we've had under Kelly were Campbell & Jones. Prior to that it was Boutte in 2020.

Sometimes in business, the cart is put before the horse. I'm grateful for 15-0, but looking at it now, O walked into that situation arse backwards, and was headed the keys to the potential kingdom. How'd he turn out after the NC? He hired a has been DC, and other bad position coaches. I don't want to hear about covid either.

Woodward should have proceeded with caution. First off, no school was lining up to sign O away even after that 2019 season. Secondly, O has a history littered of frick ups EVERYWHERE he coached. History said it would happen again & it did.

I’m still in awe of people losing it when we still haven’t had a losing season. In 2022 starting with 37 players, a QB who wouldn’t throw the ball vertically and and a defense that lost its primary DT and patched together with portal transfers, Kelly beat a much more talented Saban Bama team and won the SEC West. So could he coach and motivate then? He’s made some mistakes, no doubt about it but he has one of the greatest class ever coming in 2025 and already has #6 class for 2026. He has a lot of freshmen getting PT. By 2026 this will be a mature, seasoned talented team. He ain’t going anywhere till then so criticize but support till then. We have grown men acting like little bitches. It embarrassing.

I'll give you defense but Kelly did sign Walker Howard even though he transferred out & looks like a complete bust now.
