Under the cap situation

I’m liking the moves the Saints are making

Maybe we did hit a homerun with Kellen Moore?

I like his assistant hires also

We looked very good last season before the injuries ( no excuses) but that many injuries is difficult to overcome

Yes

We need more young talent

But that can happen over the next two seasons

The draft is critical

Instead of drafting for need, just go after the best player available and hope it hits?

What I want next season is for us to look more competent and that the players are bought in. I don't care how many games we win, I'm judging Moore on how those two things look.

So I guess I am optimistic we look better, but not optimistic we win many games.

What I am hoping for is we draft McMillian in the first and a good guard in the 2nd. If the value is right. Go all in on offense this draft and see what Carr can do.

No excuses if the line is healthy and he has time to throw.

Define optimism

Deep playoff run? Hell no

Rebuilding for a better future? Doesn’t look like it

Chance of winning the division and limping into the playoffs? 15-20% chance? And that seems pretty generous

Chances of spinning tires and kicking cans? 10000000%

Depends on your definition of optimism.

I do not think we will be good or a playoff contender.

But I do have some optimism, if you want to call it that, or excitement (very tempered), to see a whole new Coaching Staff with minimal CSP connections.

All new schemes and philosophies on both sides of the ball will at least get me interested in the offseason and first few games.

No, the roster is old and among the worst in football. Most of the NFC teams and Commanders in particular have really improved with FA.

The gap widens with our limitations and approach to paying old and declining players.

Yeah pretty much what fun bunch said. My only optimism is to see a more competent approach to Coaching and Managing the team. Other than that zero expectations for anything fun this year.

Refuse to get tricked this year like we all were after the first two games last season.

If we have a 2006 or 2017 level draft, then sure. Otherwise we’ll probably hover around the .500 mark and miss the playoffs.

Yes I agree

Hoping watching this season will give us real optimism for the following season

I'm going to take the wait and see approach. Let's see how KM attacks free agency and the draft, afterward we'll revisit this thread.

1000%

Drafting for “need” should be reserved for established legitimate contenders IMO.

Fair assessment

We can have a successful season without winning the superbowl

I'm always optimistic week one.

Loomis. New staff. Questionable starters and back ups. Coming off horrible year. Has me in a 2004-5 mood right now lol

I’d be more optimistic tearing it down and starting from scratch.

They’re not doing that, so I’m pretty confident you’ll see another 6ish win season.

Dogshit, but not dogshit enough to draft high enough for a franchise quarterback.

So like exactly what you don’t want to do if you have aspirations of having a good team at some point.

We were 16th oldest last year. Hardly the crusty old dudes you keep claiming us to be.

Also the average age of the oldest (27y5m) and youngest (25y7m) rosters was less than 2 years apart. This is such a stupid argument.
