Is there a specific Weber Genesis that is recommended? I’m not a master griller but want something better than my measly $200 grill from Lowe’s.

Also, any thoughts on a flatop vs. traditional grill?

They all seem good, but the SS ones would be nicest.
A few models have a sear zone in the middle and I think you can out a flat griddle on in place of the grills.

I have the same Weber Summit SS NG grill since 2010. I have done nothing to it. Built like a tank and has held up for 15 years. It cost me about $1200 at the time but I would, have gone through numerous other grills in that 15 years.

I bought a big bad arse grilla grills primate because I thought I’d enjoy the drop in full griddle. I liked my little two burner Weber Spirit better. I liked my cast iron grill grates better than everything else I’ve come across.

Bought one about 5 years ago now and haven't had one issue with it in all that time except replacing the battery for the igniter.

I love it for the way it is so easy to break down to give a deep cleaning that I do about 3 times a year.

Mine is kept in my shop when not in use and looks damn near as good as the day I brought it home.

I have a Genesis and bought Grill Grates brand replacement grills. One side leaves impressive grill marks if that’s your thing, and the flip side is flat with a few holes to let grease drip through. The flat side, which I use most, gives a solid crust to a steak or hamburger and can be used for things like sautéing peppers and onions for fajitas. Those grates have been one of my best purchases.

If you're a Sam's member, the Member's Mark Pro Series is hard to beat for the price.

A ton of Weber fanboys here. They are solid grills.

Also, check out Napoleon Grills. Specifically, the Phantom Prestige 500. It looks great and the performance is top tier. Not to mention, Napoleon's customer service is outstanding. I accidentally misplaced a burner when I was cleaning it, they sent me a new one at no charge even after telling them I misplaced it.

I have a Weber Genesis. Highly recommend. If I had the money for it, I would get a Lynx.

I have a SS 4 burner(3 cooking, 1 sear) NG unit with shelving & cabinet, and has side burner. I mounted it on my patio built-in.
