Why is the United States the world police ?

Why do we get into every "incident"? Why is it that we get to decide who gets and has nuclear weapons? If I'm the leader of a country and want weapons I should be able to make said weapons.
ETA I don't want Iran to have nuclear capabilities but who gets to decide ?

Because we’re the biggest kid on the block. We want to control the shipping lanes and influence the global economy and politics so we involve ourselves in everything. Isolationist countries don’t get to do that.
You can argue whether or not we should fill that role but that’s the reason why.

We are the world police because we are the country harvesting the lion’s share of the fruit of the peace we police. We could step away from that role. Who do you think would become the world police? China, of course. How do you think it would affect your life if China became the world police.
That paragraph above is just a little exercise. Please try it. If you don’t understand after that you never will.

The one with the bigger, better military.

We kicked arse in WW1, WW2 and outlasted the Soviets in a staring contest.

Because we defeated two truly evil empires in Nazi Germany and Japan. Then we defeated communist Russia in the Cold War.

We don't. Just a lot. A lot more than we should.

We are the strongest hegemonic power

Whatever the reason, it's coming to an end because we can't afford it. Either we pull back voluntarily, soon, or it happens in the context of a economic collapse.

Why are there so many idiots on here that pretend a few airstrikes is the same as a 10 year boots on the ground war?
We do. We have the ability not Lebanon.

It’s extremely simple. You give the MIC trillions to spend on toys, they are going to want to play with them.
Nothing more to it than that.

The world has always had a world police, or before the age of international travel, regional police (like the Ming dynasty in China). But now it is world police, there will ALWAYS be world police, an accepted world "second language" that is used for all things international (pre World War Two for example it was French, all US diplomats spoke it, most correspondence was in it, etc).
Every been in a Russian prison? Chinese? That is a metaphor of course but (if I may say so myself) not a bad one. We don't want Russia, Korea, China, Iran, or even Europe to be the world police in our place.
There is a reason wherever you go around the world all the signs are in the native tongue and then down below or to the side oftentimes the sign is repeated in English.

The winners of WW2 divided the world into spheres of influence. The Soviets used this as a way to expand their power, and in the resulting Cold War, we being the only nation able to oppose them, indirectly engaged them in global chess. We've been stuck in this mess ever since.

Because it goes hand-in-glove with a globalist economic reliance.

Because we’re Rome with nukes. Its all about growing the Empire.

You can tell this is still policy because we have troops in the Ukraine and Iran now.
