New Orleans is getting ready for the action and clearly isn't messing around. New Orleans scrimmaged on Sunday and head coach Kellen Moore put the team through the ringer in an attempt to simulate real action. In fact, the Saints ran 126 plays on Sunday and head coach Kellen Moore shared that may be a record, as shared on social media by NewOrleans.Football's Mike Triplett.

I like the fact that he's putting the pressure on these young Q.B.s early on and seems to be shaking things up.

Would be a mistake for a good team, but I’ll allow it.

I’m not sure we have a single player whose loss would be detrimental to the team that is already probably going to suck, so might as well run them ragged and see what we got. I respect it.

I think it's a great way to get the younger players used to the speed of the game and see how they react.

You know in the 2006 training camp, I was not expecting much from this team.

I mean you got the team coming off Katrina. You've got an unproven offensive coordinator as head coach. Your starting quarterback is a former 2nd rounder ,coming off a repaired shoulder.

Sure we drafted Reggie Bush, but they also picked up some nobody receiver from Hofstra in the 7th round??

I was not feeling at all confident in this team and yet they went to the NFC championship.

If it wasn't for a crappy rain filled turf, they might have gone to the Super Bowl.

So I told myself, no matter what it looks like on paper I am not going to assume the worst each season.

Not saying that the Saints will replicate what they did in 2006, but I don't think it is a dire as most of us are making it out to be.

I'm going to just be positive about this season

No issue with it. KM has leaned heavily on his sports science guys and they haven’t been pushing these guys to the very limit every day. There’s been a lot of rest with intense short practices. There’s gonna be days he pushes them extremely hard. I’ve been very intrigued the way Moore has handled this team so far.

If you want any glimmer of hope for this season just remember that the last two times the Saints made a wholesale change at HC/staff it resulted in a playoff season each time

1999 Saints: 3-13
2000 Saints: 10-6 NFC West Champs

2005 Saints: 3-13
2006 Saints: 10-6 NFC South Champs

Good for KM. I love that he’s confident enough to make such a move. Even if we don’t have a ton of established talent we may have found a guy who can grow into a real winner in the league.

You say that, and I' m inclined to agree, but I 've seen them do it twice. 2006 and 2000. The 1999 team was sooooo bad. Ditka was ending practices early by the end of the season and excusing no shows from practice.

By the end they were not even phoning it in.

Then Haslett and Mueller brought in a journeyman QB in Blake and an unknown back up in Aaron Brooks. Defense was peiced together as was most of the receiver corps minus Joe Horn. By the end of the season Saints were in the playoffs and Brooks was starting at QB.....and Saints won the playoff game.
