Just ran across a gem of a movie - Downfall (2004)

Accidentally ran across this movie. It jumped up into my list of best WWII movies and I highly recommend it.

Holy shite! The movie and memes have existed since I've been on TD.com.
Anyway, it is one of the best foreign language films I've ever seen and certainly an A+ effort to depict the closing days of Hitler and the Third Reich.

Fantastic movie. In my opinion, this was the very first movie to properly humanize Hitler, and by that I don't mean that it cast him in a sympathetic light (although some critics thought so). Before this movie, Hitler was always portrayed as a predictable cut-out character. Hitler was a human being -certainly a terrible human being- but a human being none the less. Bruno Ganz deserved every award that he got for this portrayal, and all of the ones he did not get.

The director said he wanted to make Hitler look pathetic without making the viewer feel sorry for him. Ganz definitely nailed it.
