Watching Shogun makes you wonder how Japan gets a total pass for having a dictator in it’s history. The entire system is run by one man—the shogun—who controls the samurai, the land, the economy, and life itself. It’s literally a military dictatorship, but somehow people romanticize it as “honor” and “tradition.”

If a Western nation in history had the same setup, “woke” commentators would call it colonialist or fascist. Yet when it’s Japan, it’s “beautiful culture” and “discipline.” Why is that?

The vast majority of societies in recorded history could be viewed as dictatorships tbh

It’s about self-hatred, and they aren’t Japanese.

Because the period of history that you describe was hundreds of years ago. The concurrent period in European history was the same with powerful kings and landowners that are often shown in a romantic and noble manner in movies and television.

Just for comparison's sake, can you name a culture that has never been under the thumb of a dictator?

Thanks.

What the frick kind of thread is this? Are you asking us why we aren't mad at Japan for having dictatorships 150 years ago? Also, you realize that's a television show you're citing as your evidence, right?

Man, how frickin arse hurt are you that Japan is dealing with the US? This is seriously one of the worst threads I've ever read. It's something that a petulant child would dream up.

Indeed. The moron could have brought it into the modern era and pointed out that they fought with the NAZIs during the war. But their mind is that of a child's. They watched a television show last night and thought they had some revelation.

The vast majority of all humans who have ever lived on this planet lived under some sort of dictatorship/ruler. The democracies that developed relatively recently in western europe and north america are the exception to human history.

Because the Japanese are smart enough to tell folks from the outside to kindly frick off with their criticism.

It's amazing how effective simply giving the proper response works.

Also I dont think many leftists support how Japan runs their country, they would love to immediately ship two million africans from the poorest and most violent countries on the continent to Japan and "enrich" their society.

Lol their “dictator” was neutered during WW2 and his very existence ties into Shintoism, otherwise it is just ceremonial. Do better

They're not white. Whites are the only ones who are told they can't collectivize.

That's why they say 'people of color.' It's a framework in which whites are the oppressors of all non-whites.
