Wow, there's a lot of players in the portal.

Been living under a rock I guess but there's a lot of guys who were in the 2 deep on that transfer list, more than I thought there would be with such a big name coaching hire. What's the odds Kiffin can pull off the complete roster rebuild in one portal cycle and field a competitive team next year?

They are just trying to make some money while they are eligible to okay CFB.

LSU just went 7-6. A big part of that was the coaching staff, but a lot of the guys on this LSU roster weren’t really up to par, and Kiffin and company see and know that. No slight on anybody in particular, but this is LSU, and to be at LSU you need to be elite.
I’m not gonna sit here and say that there wasn’t a single guy transferring out of LSU I would have liked to have kept, Kyle Parker, Carius Curne, Tyree Adams etc, but LSU needs a complete shift. A complete gutting of the roster and overhaul.

I mean, even Brian Kelly rebuilt a roster that only returned 36 players. Lane will have a complete roster.

I tend to disagree. We were a heisman qb away from making a playoff IMO. If you bring in 3 top Ol ( with Moore at C and Curne as weakest link at g and a new guard and two top tackles) in addition to a heisman qb we would likely have won a championship. That’s 4 players /two positions. The defense was good enough, the offensive play calling was not good enough but a good enough qb can cover that IMO. The team didn’t require a total rebuild Imo.

I imagine the current coaching staff took all of that into consideration, as well as things like effort given, money paid, things like that, then said: some of these guys ain't gonna make it.
