If this OP is correct, Chyna is about to lose BIGTIME in VZ.
What’s at stake for China in Venezuela? A $100 billion in loans and a crumbling economy
Beijing has long helped prop up administration of Nicolas Maduro. It has made over $105 billion in financial commitments in the South American nation between 2007 and 2016.

What’s at stake for China in Venezuela? A $100 billion in loans and a crumbling economy
Beijing has long helped prop up administration of Nicolas Maduro. It has made over $105 billion in financial commitments in the South American nation between 2007 and 2016.
quote:
New Delhi: Hours before the US launched its military operation and “captured” Nicolas Maduro, the Venezuelan President was meeting with China’s Special Representative on Latin American Affairs, Qiu Xiaoqi. For Beijing, a lot is at stake in Venezuela, roughly $105.6 billion worth of loans and other financial assistance.
Beijing condemned the Saturday operation. In a statement, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted that such “hegemonic acts of the US seriously violate international law and Venezuela’s sovereignty.” “We call on the US to abide by international law and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and stop violating other countries’ sovereignty and security,” the statement added.

Since 2016, however, China’s loans petered off, while Beijing and Caracas focussed on restructuring the existing financial commitments. For China, Venezuela remains one of its largest debtors, and any change in administration in Caracas has large financial implications for Beijing.

Oh well. Sucks for them. I think they are going to eventually find out that they have wasted a lot of money investing in many African nations as well.

I was told China no globalist.
Why would they have anything to do with Venezuela? Weird.

I think Chyna has pulled back on a lot of investment in many African nations for the last 5 years.

Yep, the new Silk Road as the chi-coms like to refer to is turning into a yuge bust for them.
Ghost cities galore, dangers infrastructure projects that are collapsing, a crappy navy, a shrinking demographic tsunami and hundreds of millions of Chinese still living in abject poverty.
A thriving Christian revival of tens of millions of Chinese folks where they are coming to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We could see a total collapse of the CCP in the next 10-15 years

It’s obvious. China needs energy, Venezuela provided it. Trump fricked them with this move.

IDK. That sounds a lot on the light side of what the chi-coms had in VZ.
This is starting to look like the Japanese in WWII. The invested heavily and gambled on world domination & lost big time.
