This video is a perfect representation as to why mainstream cinema is dying...

A woman re-made a scene from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The original effect shots from the film cost roughly $1 million to make. She spent something like $100 to re-make it and it turned out better in some ways.
If you don't want to watch the whole video and how she explains her process, fast forward to the 18:58 minute mark to see the final form of the scene as well as 20:20 to see a comparison of the original scene and her scene.

That’s amazing. And her Aslan looks way better than the film.

This ain’t why mainstream cinema is dying. Might
Be corollary, but it ain’t “the” reason.

You people cheering for cinema to die are strange

There's no reason it's a combination or reasons as well as a change in society such as streaming becoming far more accessible and honestly cheaper

Typical she-bossery on display, once again!
j/k.
*Gal's got all manner of talents. Impressive. Reminds me of another cute Norwegian artist, Martina, from Nerdforge.

So ... one scene is manipulated from a movie that as shot and edited 19 years ago is a perfect representation?
Of course there are less expensive tools of technology that filmmakers can use. I'm sure Greta will too for her new Narnia film.
Now, let's put her upcoming Narnia film with real actors and environments up against a fan's full length from scratch version with fake "actors".
Cinema is evolving and adapting. Dying is a stretch, but cheer on.

I mean given advances in mainstream technology, it wouldn’t unheard of that you could do this with a CGI scene from a movie almost 20 years ago. And it’s just one brief scene.
Lots of issues for mainstream cinema but this isn’t it.

Greta's problem isn't going to be CGI, but script and overall concept.
She's gonna Barbie it up, and when it comes to C.S. Lewis, that's not a challenge, it's a disaster.
Change my mind.

I agree but YouTube said something so that's their talking point

Quick follow up to the OP. I don’t think this is *the main reason why cinema is dying. While she claims she have spent only $100, how many hours were spent on this project. And this for only a few moments of screen time.
She took a scene from a movie made over 20 years ago, which itself was from a book written decades ago. The problem isn’t CGI or cost as much it is is DEI & identity politics being shoehorned into stories that don’t need it.
*to clarify

Remind me who it was that said, “ Let the past die, kill it if you have to!”

Well, thats nice and all, but she had the damn template right in front of her
Its like buying a model, and then people claiming yours is better than the original vehicle, who had to start from scratch
Hollywood movies made by AI wont be better, because creators wont have the mental acumen to bring a story from origin. Nor will they have the funds to buy a published authors work. Nor the marketing budget to bring it to viewers

They are one and the same. If Hollywood dies, cinema dies as well. Cinema has already pretty much died, though, so it doesn’t even matter.

Her Aslan looks better than an Aslan that was made years before the iPhone was even released. I'm shocked! Safe to say that the scene she copied is quite a bit more impressive visually given the technology difference.

bullshite. It 100% is dying and anyone who honestly thinks otherwise is a goddamn idiot.
No production companies use traditional film anymore and the lighting used is almost entirely soft lighting compared to the 2000s where it was predominantly hard lighting that was used. That’s why people in movies now have little to no shadows and there’s virtually zero color grading in cinematography. Movies today literally look like soul-less insurance commercials.
Corporatization and monopolization of film studios has lead to an extreme decrease in the quality of IP projects. More emphasis is being put on pumping out shitty “quantity over quality” in order to maximize profits.
So no, it’s not a fricking stretch to say that cinema is dying, because it absolutely is.

For frick's sake.
Movies outpriced people.
$50 for a movie a coke and bucket of popcorn was too much.
Just wait to watch it on your home theater system in three weeks.
It's that simple.
it's not woke. It's not based. It's simply cost vs benefit. There is no tangible benefit to watching a new release in a theater.
There is a benefit to watching an old classic in a theater.
That's why they are transitioning.
Honestly, the same people that bitch about a "woke" movie will put the same movie on when they have nothing to do on a Tuesday night.
People crave cheap entertainment. There's a cheaper alternative. Industry becomes niche or collapses. It's not fricking rocket science.
