Any reccomendations on killing fleas around house? Also a good preventative for the dog. Flea collar is useless. Thanks.

For inside the house, the vacuum is the best thing. I used the indoor flea kit from domyown and vacuumed every soft surface in the house twice a week.
I bought NyGuard to use outside, but haven't let my cats out since the infestation.

Bifenthrin and/or Nygard should work just fine for treating your yard.

Fleas die fairly easy, any of your bifen based spray products will work as well as most granular products.
What's going on OP? Do your pets have fleas or you are just doing prevention? I've had dogs my whole life and never had fleas in my "yard". I do spray now. But I haven't in the past.
If you have fleas in your yard where are they coming from?

Bifen or Demon WP. Can get 4 packets on Demon on Amazon for about $11. I find it to be a bit stronger than Bifen.

Trifexis has worked great for our pups

It will be time to fertilize your lawn in a month anyway….i would just mix some Talstar granules in the hopper when you do thst. Kills fire ants too!

Not sure what happened someone grubbed wooded kudzu property next to me and maybe that started it? Noticed the indoor cat who sometimes goes outside for a few minutes in the yard was covered in fleas. After bombing her room multiple times and still fleas finally just tore out the carpet. Got fleas off her with medicine and flea comb. We wash the dog with dawn and he has a flea collar and we comb him regulary but every week he has 5-8 fleas on him. I notcied outside walking him one day one jumped on my leg. I would have thought low 20s weather would get them but they are still getting on him. He stays in kitchen with no carpet and floor is cleaned regularly. We have washed his bedding, got new bedding etc.

Hope you are talking about a pet and not a daughter!

Flea eggs hatch every 7 days. So spray weekly for 4 weeks. Use Bifenthrin 7.9 or Cyper WSP(Generic Demon WP) as other pister stated.

Any of the topical, between the shoulder blades, type of preventatives.
Always worked for mine.
Kill them off the pets and you will not have an indoor problem.

This year has been hell with fleas.
We had a "stray" cat that showed up in our yard. We scooped her up, way too clean to be an outside cat. Come to find out she was the neighbors cat and they didn't want her anymore. She was covered in fleas, we bathed her 3 times when we brought her in.
My other 2 dogs and 2 cats all have flea and tick collars, they do nothing. We have been battling them ever since. We have no carpet in the house outside of a single rug. I'm talking about, pull all bed sheets, wash them, bomb spray and treat each room, kick everyone out of the house and treat the rest of the house. We have done that 3 times now, still have fleas.
I treat the yard with talstar P, we have chickens that free range. They are impossible to kill.

Several years ago, we had a really bad flea year in Alabama. At the time we had a couple of dogs and one cat. I tried bug bombs in the basement where the dog beds were. The kind for bed bugs was recommended to me for fleas. I learned way too much about the flea life cycle. I think from egg laying to hatching was something like 14-21 days, and even if you had killed all the living fleas, the ones that hatch would get nutrients from the dead fleas bodies, so you had to vacuum constantly. I tried Diatomaceous earth spread all through the basement next. That seemed to help. What finally got rid of them was our pest control company spraying something meant only for outdoor use down there. Dude made me promise no humans or pets enter the basement for a week and he'd knock them out.
Since then, I have started doing my own pest control, and use Bifen in the yard, around the deck, hitting all the windows and doors both inside and out, and along the perimeter of the basement. Every 3-4 weeks when the weather starts getting warm, and we no longer have issues with fleas, ants, roaches etc.

I put Bifen down twice a year for fire ants and it takes care of red ants and roaches and also fleas and ticks and also controls mosquitos. Not sure it’s good for earth worms and thus birds though.

Alpine WSG indoors, bifen/tekko pro IGR for perimeter/concrete exterior, bifen granules in the yard. Say goodbye to all insects.

They now offer a once a year shot for flea and tick prevention. Bravecto maybe? Call your vet.
