Things were popping off out in da Parish. Imagine manning the American line when the fog lifted and revealed all those red coated regiments lined up to attack. Must have been a helluva sight.

They weren’t ready for what would drop 200 years later

'Ol Hickory said we could take 'em by surprise if we didn't fire our muskets til we looked 'em in the eyes.

Everyone has a part to play, and as they say, there are no small parts.

Typical Louisiana. When someone wants to frick with us, the blacks, Indians, pirates, creoles, cajuns, whites, etc all band together to kick some arse. Throw in some Tennessee and Kentucky baws as well. Top it off with a bad arse commander like Andrew Jackson and the British didn’t stand a chance. A motley crew indeed.

Its one of the most impressive military victories in American history and no one really talks about it nationally.
We got our arse kicked from Canada to DC in the war of 1812 and Jackson handed them their absolute asses with virtually zero help from the federal government.
Just rolled into New Orleans sick to the point of being barely able to stand, rounded up any local badasses he could find including pirates, criminals and slaves, built a huge fortification and humiliated one of the greatest armies in the world at that time.
The fact that it hasnt been made into a movie is a huge indictment of Hollywood on multiple fronts.

When Andy Jackson returned to Tennessee he eventually built The Hermitage He had bought the land earlier. We wondered if he remembered Louisiana room heights.

Brits were a clown show that morning. They misjudged the strength of the river and the group they sent across got swept down and had to trudge a lot farther up the west bank than they thought they would have to. Then the main army forgot the ladders needed to scale the American defenses and got shredded.
