Sick of it too. Wish we could go back to under the table money without the portal.

Why? Should regular students not be able to transfer schools too or just athletes?

You will get blasted as a boomer who is jealous of young kids making tons of money. Or perhaps the old past was not as good as we thought it was, and you can take this new way, or fandom is better off without you in it. (Even though it’s destroying college football)

There is no real fix I’m afraid. I see it just getting uglier and more chaotic every year. Kill or be killed

Do regular students have access to the lowers admission standards that athletes have? What about the free tutoring, priority scheduling, etc?

They are professionals now. Revenue sharing should make them employees and all laws applicable.
The players should have a union.
The colleges should have a commissioner.
Then you negotiate and set rules that will benefit the health of the league and the players. Which means, that the league won't get everything it wants and the players won't either.
However, you save college athletics and at the same time provide sound structure to student athletes that allows them to get paid but to also learn valuable lessons that only come from fighting through some adversity.
Players would sign contracts and be given one free transfer.
The NFL gets players on initial 4-5 year contracts. This would give college players even better conditions in that after a year, they could move if things aren't working they way they want.
Lots of different options available, but having free agency every year and the ability to walk from contracts will kill the sport.

Yes, we know. Adapt until it changes.

The NCAA created this cluster in every single stupid decision they’ve made. They made their bed and now they can watch as they’re pushed aside and a commissioner takes over.

I know plenty of people under the age of 40 that feel this exact same way. It has nothing to do with being of boomer generation.

Regular students do transfer, but not every frickin year.
Most normal students transfer for a better education opportunity, or being closer to home, etc. But they generally do it once. Not every year.
I agree it needs some teeth to these rules. Give every athlete 1 free pass, 2nd for special circumstances, if injured or coach leaves, etc. 3rd time needs to revert back to old rules and make them sit out a year.

Athletes are involved in a competitive sports league, where rules should be applied to ensure fair competition among the teams in the league.
Unlimited money and unlimited transfers destroys rosters and results in a feeding frenzy (every year) for all the players. The "haves" can get a lot more talent than the "have nots" and players can be poached every year.
That's very, very bad for the overall health of a sports league.
Regular students don't have this issue and they can transfer all they want.
But you already knew that...

I don't care anymore.
Getting strong sense I am not alone.

Not without having to sit out.

Relevance? The school offered all of that. That doesn’t mean the student is beholden and has to finish their education at that same institution that originally made that offer should another opportunity with better terms become available.

Keeping up with the portal has been fun with Lane as coach.

The portal just made it too damn easy. Sure, there were transfers but not like this. I think it was OSU that lost 60 players. There is NO LOYALTY, just a check.
