I have a $9 latch hook(opens oven door) that I am trying to get installed for my microwave/convection oven. Original part broke. The manufacturer of the oven is telling me that the part is no longer available and that I need to purchase a brand-new oven.
The new oven is $1,200. The oven is just out of warranty and other than this one problem with the latch, it works perfectly. Any suggestions on who may be able to take on this massive project?

Just curious, you said you have the part and that it's also not available. Which is it?

Sorry, I received 2 different parts that were part numbers that were replacement numbers for the part I needed. Not sure if these are correct parts or not. Oven is back in the wall and I cannot remove at this point
A bit confusing I know. If I could find someone to clarify all of this, I could move forward, I hope.

$9 part vs. $1,200 new oven.

Have you tried an appliance repair business?

Yes but they don't want to be liable for the part not possibly working correctly.
The manufacturer would love to sell me a brand-new oven.
I would like to find someone (given I can locate the correct part) to install it.
I am in Metry. I have already had someone come in and rig a piece of cardboard for the door latch. That worked for about 2 years. Now apparently another part broke (door latch hook assembly).
Sorry for the way this information is evolving.

Did you check YouTube for a video?

Look up the microwave model on appliancepartspros.com. If it is listed on the site, there will probably be diagrams that show all of the parts. They often have videos on the part page that explain how to replace the part. The videos usually do a good job of explaining how to replace the part.

The oven is just out of warranty

Did you buy it with a credit card? Many cards have an extended warranty program that can add a year to the warranty.

It’s not just out of warranty then, most warranties are 1 year for microwaves as far as I know. Goodness man your posts are a disaster.

1.) Have you called an appliance repair man?

2.) I still can’t tell if you actually have the part or not. I don’t want to know if you found it online, do you actually have the part?

3.) eBay is a good place for “parts” like these. You may be able to find the same microwave for $50 and take the parts off it

Latches on microwave ovens don't just keep the door shut. They are part of the safety interlock system often employing 3 microswitches that keeps you from getting a dose of microwaves in the face every time you approach a running unit. If a trained tech can't fix it, replace.

List the model and brand w/picture (of your wife/girlfriend).

Curious if you could use a metal base and 3D print the rest of it. Maybe you can dig up an old parts list.
