Now
i think you will see them focus heavily on guys they think can play right now and older transfer players
everyone else just transfers so fast

Most of the major schools rosters are still primarily made up of high school recruits. Oregon only has 23 transfers on their roster, for example.

Never.
Kewan Lacy went to Ole Miss because Lane recruited him out of high school.
At least one of our RB portal commits is a guy they recruited out of high school.
You still have to build the relationships. The money only goes so far, and only gets you in the door for a certain type of guy if you don't already have a relationship.

It will never be eliminated, but the big schools are already starting to be a lot more selective with the high school players.
I can see a trend where you start seeing more "big name" high school kids going to G5's to get early playing time, almost like a minor league system for the P4 schools. That is, al least, until they figure out some way to regulate and police all this mess (if it's even possible at this point).

used to be MIles' strategy when he saw he wasn't going to get more thn 3 years out of anyone that had NFL potential, with the portal now it's a crapshoot

Sure looking like that time is now. Transfer portal is the new recruiting tool.

I don’t know what the answer to your question is, but the current state of college football is completely unsustainable. Don’t know what will happen but the state of the sport 5 years from now will be something none of us will recognize.

I was just thinking how much more exciting this portal recruiting by Kiffin is and how my attitude was towards HS signing day.

It's already minimized.

Not that its unimportant, but is it minimized? Of course it is.
We got a commit from a great Edge rusher. No one even knows his name. Even QB Houston who will be amazing (presumably) under Kiffin...no one is even considering him.
We still pay attention to early signing day...but after that, its a yawn.

Only a matter of time before the same thing happens and out of control at the HS level. Elijah Haven (Dunham HS) just signed an NIL contract with Matt Bowers "based on his accomplishments". I'm guessing the entire FB team at IMG Academy has NIL contracts since they're basically a HS all-start team being groomed to play at the FBS level.

Eliminated? We wouldn't have college sports in 4 years.

In baseball, besides a few of the very very top players, it seems to already have happened
