Unless you’re 18, it’s time to let it go

Unless it is totally egregious, officials aren't often going to call a PI on a hail mary. The issue wasn't the defense. It was Chambliss threw a poor pass that didn't give his guys a shot. He threw more of a line drive to the back corner of the endzone rather than putting air under the ball and trying to get a tipped ball

Just referencing it to last night's last play that had a similar result.

correct - unless the CB tackles a WR, the ref won't throw a flag.

And I completely agree that the final pass was bad. Didn't even give their WRs a chance. That ball needed to be far away from the sidelines so multiple OM WRs could have a chance on a tip. That throw only gave one WR a chance, and it would've been a miraculous catch.

Was really disappointing that they didn't even give themselves a chance on that last play.

that's not the point the OP is making. they are clearly over it. it's just a reference that they don't call much on last play heaves like that. it's an example. i don't think anybody is upset at it.

True, but not always. In 1992 the officials called offensive pass interference on LSU receiver Todd Kinchen which negated a game winning TD on the last play against Vanderbilt.

Yep. Exclude the play from last night since the ball was uncatchable, I can’t be the only one that hates how refs don’t throw flags on pretty obvious PI’s on Hail Marys.

I get and appreciate that they don’t want to interject themselves and influence the outcome of the game, but there’s still time remaining. Plus the majority of the time, it’s offensive PI too, so the penalties would either offset or be declined by the defense.

In the Miami game that was NOT pass interference unless you want to call it on both players. The first shot I saw I thought it was...the Miami defender had his hand inside the top of the OM receiver jersey almost like a horse collar. Then, when the camera shot was from the other side of the field, the OM receiver had his hand inside the Miami guy's jersey in the exact same manner. Both were looking like they were almost trying to horse collar the other. Thus, it is either pass interference on BOTH players (never seen that called) or "let 'em play" because neither was gaining the advantage. Ref got that one exactly right.

It was very close and could have easily been called. They were moving a a very big speed. It was a great pass fyi.
They were Flo g so fast towards that corner they sort of lost balance and fell forwards. Some from rigging on each other no doubt.
It would have made me sick to my stomach as an Ole Niss fan.

I agree it was a good pass unlike some here who said he gave no chance for the ball to be tipped. But I disagree it was a close call. Once again, if you look at BOTH angles, the OM WR had just as good of a hold of the UM DB jersey as vice versa. It would have been a hideous call for it to be PI. If they let the players hand fight which they allow all the time, you can't dismiss one guy holding the other player's jersey by the collar and say the other guy pulled his collar.

Only time I’ve ever seen PI called on a Hail Mary was against Jimmy Graham. Forget which game it was but calling OPI on a Hail Mary was and is comical

Goal line picture. They were both handsy with the other. Reb looks like hands to face.

I wouild presume only one player is penalized and that would be the first one to who did something illegal. Once that occurs the other player is exempt from a penalty since he is trying to adjust and recover from the initial violation. The only exception might be something like targeting on the DB if the WR is initially called for interfereence during the route.

Bad resolution but great picture anyway. It clearly shows the Ole Miss player interfering with the Miami player. The most shown ESPN shot was from the other side of the field and showing the Miami player with his hand on Ole Miss player's collar. As I said, can't call a penalty on one unless you call on the other also...they did EXACTLY the same thing.

I remember the Todd Kinchen "winning" touchdown vs Vandy. I've looked at the YouTube video of it over and over and have never seen any contact. That was legitimately a TD pass

Looked pretty simultaneous to me. But I will admit I don't have the technology at my fingertips to "sync up" the timing of two different camera angles of the same play. But of course, you SHOULD be right but I have seen countless examples where it is the opposite. As you know, there is the old (and many times true saying) of "they always catch the second guy".

Golding should have kicked the FG for the cover as a consolation for Ole Miss.

I haven't let 2006 Auburn go. No way I'm letting a game from 23 go yet.

I didn't take the picture. It was copied from a tweet pic.

I think the no call PI was correct and glad the zebras didn't influence the end of the game.
